    Apparently, Gregg Williams is available.

Yep, probably best for the team in general. I read on PFT, I believe, that they called Williams staying there a situation that could create 'turmoil', which is something the Browns are really trying to eliminate.

I find it strange & comical at the same time that one teams trash coach is another team's treasure coach... just find that sorta odd.

I wouldn't want Williams on the Bears. But Cleveland makes the right move pushing him out of the way. If you believe Kitchens is your guy...make sure everyone knows the team is his.

Todd Bowles is apparently gonna choose between going to Tampa under Arians or possibly to the Bears to replace Fangio.

Ed Donatell could also get promoted in Chicago if he doesn't go to Denver with Fangio.

Outside of any HC position left....hard to see that Bears DC isn't the most attractive job currently available.

Williams went 5-3 as interim HC...I wouldn't exactly call him trash. He did a phenomenal job of getting this team focused. However, internal evaluations produce a lot of information we are not privy to.

I think Dorsey looked at both and made a decision on which one was more important to this organization...Winner was Kitchens.

Williams defense performed, but not to a level that he was indispensable. There is a lot of room for improvement on a team that is gathering a lot of talent on that side of the ball. I hope his replacement is an upgrade!

The long and short of it, Williams probably felt disrespected on some level that they would choose Kitchens after his 5-3 interview. I could see where that would be a cause of controversy and turmoil. That is why I understand them relieving him today, so he has ample opportunity to find another gig before all the other positions are filled across the NFL.

  7. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

I thought I read somewhere that Bowles has already decided to join Arians in Tampa Bay. Might have just been talking head jibberish.

    I saw the same yesterday.

Today I'm seeing he has a choice and that Matt Nagy has spoken to him over the past few days.

That is an interesting development after being so widely reported that he was following Arians to Tampa Bay...

If he is looking for the best opportunity, he shouldn't even dwell on this decision. He should jump on a plane to Chicago and sign a contract. I know he has a relationship with Arians, which is probably the only reason he is taking 24 hours or so to decide. In the end, I'll be surprised if he doesn't go to the Bears.

Him and Matt Nagy have history as well...worked on Eagles staff together and are friends.

If he wants to be a HC again....I don't see how the Bears job isn't really attractive to him.

Not sure he'd be my choice for the job but I also haven't had any time to actually think about who would.

If he really hasn't made up his mind, I wish the Browns would get on the horn RIGHT NOW and see if they can entice him here!! He would be a HUGE asset for a new HC with no experience. We also have a lot of attractive players to work with on that side of the ball, as well as money to burn on free agency/trade scenarios.

  12. Torgo M.V.P. Manager Falcons

Based solely on my knowledge of Donatell, I'd be rooting for him to get the job. He has been a very good coach for a very long time. The only question with him is the same as with all potential coordinators - whether any particular team's current players are a good scheme fit for the coach's system or significant roster upheaval will be needed to make it work.

But since he's already part of the Bears organization, I'd think he'd tweak what they already have without needing an overhaul.

Kubiak is headed back to the sideline to call plays for the Broncos.

Donatell did an absurdedly amazing job with the Bears secondary.

He has DC experience. If he wants the gig...I would have a hard time saying no to him.

He is a free agent though...he's not under contract. So departing to Denver with Fangio or going anywhere else is a possibility.

  15. Torgo M.V.P. Manager Falcons

Damn. Musgrave becomes available again, and my Falcons already went with Dirk Koetter as the new OC. Major missed opportunity by Dan Quinn and the Falcons organization.

He's definitely in demand right now. Even the Redskins sat down with Bowles just to discuss a possible role.

Speaking of coaching the secondary - Kris Richard (Dallas) is getting looks. Hoping Dallas can find a way to keep him.

He's another guy I hope is on Kitchens short list for DC.

I wish I was a fly on the wall. Would love to watch these interviews and have all the information available that the NFL teams do to vet these coaches.

Would be a big loss to Marinelli's team down there.
