Alabama never looked so pathetically desperate under Saban. Actually the last time Saban lost half that badly JP Losman led the Bills to a 21-0 win over his Dolphins.
as ugly as ND looked, they didn't look as ugly as Bama did last night and that was without their best defensive player in the 2nd qtr. hahahaa. Saban is still the greatest. Sorry Dabo. The guy was going for his 7th National Title. That alone is insane. Even the great ones lose in the Finals-Gretzky, Lombardi, Brady, Chamberlain, Ali, etc. Saban and Bama will be back - count on that. Clemson is for real and that was as dominate as a team could be. Almost a perfect game for them. They will lose some guys to the draft, but they are loaded on offense with Lawrence and those 2 WRs for two more years. Their Def is nasty as well. Should be fun seeing BAMA-Clem clash next year.
The thing about Dabo is that he is a Bama guy. Alabama badly wants him after Saban goes. However I don't know if Dabo would leave the dynasty he built.
good point. how much longer will Saban coach for ? how much after last night does he have left ? Sweeney at Bama is a insane thought to go from one legendary coach right to another with no let down ! Wow. Not good for the rest of college football.
Everyone is hiring Bama guys. Georgia made it to the championship game last season with a Bama guy as their coach. Saban must really be good at developing coaches too, because his disciples are playing in the championship game every year too. How many championship games have had coaches not from the Bama chain in the last five years? At least four have had a Bama guy on both sidelines.
tough question. not last 5 but when Urban Meyer was at UF, i think those guys were his. That was a decade ago. Maybe FSU a few years back with Crab legs Justice?? Beats me but a lot come from Bama.
Right now it seems you need Saban roots to build a championship team. Are these guys getting the best recruits, or are they that good of coaches?
both. USC had that with Carroll and RBs and WRs 4 and 5 deep. Once they were on probation and Carroll left, the top recruits went elsewhere like Bama. Saban must teach them the right way bc the Georgia coach and Sweeney are doing it right. Only a buffoon like Lane Kiffen can screw it up with Saban and he did.
Expanding on this just a little . . . Once a school has some success (regardless of why), it tends to draw better recruits. Better recruits yield more success. More success yields even more of the better recruits. And so on and so on. It's kind of like a death spiral in reverse. Years of repeated success tends to point towards the coaching as the players are only there for a short period of time and the coach is normally the constant.
Dabo is going pro in 2 years. It will be a package deal the team with the number 1 will nab Dabo as coach and Lawrence as the number 1 overall.
Brandon Wimbush leaving ND for UCF. They said that Ian Book will play QB at ND. That's odd considering they have Phil Jurkovec, who was the #4 dual option passer, waiting in the wings. Jurkovic lives down the hall from my nephew in their dorm at ND. If Jurkovec is ready, throw him in there. ND needs a QB who can play 2-3 years without being replaced like their QBs under Kelly in the past. They need consistency out of that position they haven't had in a long time. Frankly, I don't know how a school as lofty as ND gets such bad QBs as Brady Quinn, Tommy Rees, Jimmy Clausen, Dayne Crist and the highly recruited Gunner Kiel. Kelly screwed up most of these kids, but a few weren't very good at all.
https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...ot-in-recruiting-rankings-with-stellar-class/ Unlike Dynasty that eventually lose out - Bama is not slowing down anytime soon and is #1 again with a loaded class. i swear they will never be bad until Nick Saban dies, retires or goes elsewhere. they have so many 5 star kids coming in, their subs are 5 star kids. how can they ever lose built like this? Wow. Surprised to see some 4 star recruits sign with schools that are not top power schools.
https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...notre-dame-oklahoma-vying-for-prized-recruit/ the best all-purpose RB recruit for the 2020 class just picked ND over Bama and Oklahoma! Wahoo!
The Alabama defense suffered a devastating blow on Tuesday days before the season opener. Star linebacker Dylan Moses tore his ACL in practice, per Matt Zenitz of AL.com. On the SEC coaches conference call Wednesday, Nick Saban confirmed Moses will undergo knee surgery and will be sidelined "indefinitely." Losing Moses, who is a junior, is a huge loss for an already thin position group. Prior to the injury, Moses was touted as a potential 2020 first-round draft pick. "Certainly, this is a character check for our team, and we're going to do everything to support Dylan and the people that have the opportunity now to fill in for Dylan," Saban said. Moses led the Crimson Tide in tackles (86), and totaled 3.5 sacks last season. He was a Butkus Award finalist and was selected as an All-SEC second team honoree, in addition to other accolades.
