Just pointing out, the Bengals aren't a veteran laden team...Joe Mixon won't ever shake that ugly video, but career wise, he seems to be doing just fine professionally. Had a really solid season. Mixon one of the few real workhorse backs. When he's healthy, he doesn't share many carries...

Joe Mixon may have done what he did just to fit in down there. :p

Obviously, that ^^^^^^ was a bit tongue in cheek. But, remember when Mixon's video surfaced, he was still at Oklahoma and ended up getting suspended for the 2014 season. The Bengals drafted him anyway.

Thank goodness, playoff football about to start! Sorry if I've been a little stir crazy.....I've got a little cabin fever going on here...

Almost 10 weeks without putting any weight on my right foot. None at all. Can't drive or anything....lol. Man I'll be glad when I get this damn boot off.

Oh I remember it well. I won an avatar bet with RTTRUTH when Mixon got drafted within the first 2 rounds..:bet:

Both are valid but i think too much emphasis is put on 1. The media circus is always everywhere and if there is one thing we can agree on about the locker room culture in the NFL is that it is dense to the opinions of others or reason. I do not think Hunt would not be received poorly by the team nor would the attention affect the team because deep down they all have a significant victim persona and would just band around how misunderstood he is, or how she started it or some horse excrement about god's plan and adversity.

point 2 however seems fair enough but i dont think he is any more conflicted than most young guys in the NFL. its a mostly PR decision and one that i dont think is ultimately all that important ESPECIALLY if wherever he goes to ends up succeeding.

And i may get flame for this but exhibit 1- RAY LEWIS, killed a guy or two in all likely hood, ends up being the best D player of his era and an all time goat, and while people talk shit here and there - the media and people are large dont care.

Gotta pass on that one. Browns are changing the culture... I'd like to make sure it's in the right direction.

Also, how f**ked up is it that Kareem Hunt is going to get another shot before Colin Kaepernick?

Fair enough. Thanks for responding to my question. I will disagree that KH would have some powerful negative effect on our culture though. I just don't see that happening with him regardless where he ends up. He's a quiet guy by nature. Kareem isn't gonna get his opportunity at redemption, and then come into a lockerroom and start trying to corrupt everybody. That's just not gonna happen...He's gonna keep his mouth shut, like he usually does. He's going to work hard, and do everything within his power to get back into the good graces of society....Most importantly, Kareem is gonna reward the GM that takes the chance. Just my take.

How soon you forgot the media circus that rolled into Cleveland on the coat tails of Johnny Manziel. It matters zero to me what launches the circus. I would simply take a path to avoid it all together.

And that's precisely why he'll get another shot.

And just because I don't want him on the team doesn't mean it can't/won't happen. Dorsey drafted him and it's an easy "connect-the-dot" to Cleveland. The biggest reason right now for not bringing him in isn't the off-field stuff... it's Nick Chubb.

Agreed ...I mentioned that earlier as well.

Pretty sure I've been convincing myself all weekend that Hunt is a real possibility here, and that he would be a great asset at a real bargain....I can't look back now. lol!

Seriously though, wherever Kareem winds up, he won't be some lockerroom problem for a team.... He f--ked up, and he knows it, but he's not going to go somewhere and derail some football team. I'm positive of that. He's a great football player, that knows he's under the microscope...Just wants an opportunity to prove himself, and make amends, as much as he can, to all those that he let down....

As far as "media circus" goes, I think that's overblown completely. There's certain to be some backlash upon signing him, but as long as he doesn't re-offend, that will go away and not be much of a factor. FTR; it goes away even faster if he produces like he did in KC...The nature of pro sports.

Depending on the price (he's getting a little long in the tooth) I could get on board with this one. His Injury history is a concern though.

Interesting...^^^Here's 4 potential F/A targets highlighted, including @SAS favorite, Dee Ford.

I think Tyrell Williams will be the most sought after F/A WR, and that would make a nice big target for Baker. Player in his prime...

This is the perfect time for the Browns to go "all in", if they are ever gonna do it...Obviously, we don't want to see any foolish contracts, but right now we have several main cornerstone pieces (Mayfield, Garrett, Ward) all on rookie contracts...That puts us in the catbird seat to make a run for the title. No doubt these Free Agents will be looking at Cleveland in an entirely different light. How refreshing will that be? I trust in John Dorsey, but it would surprise me if we were inactive in F/A market....

Players are going to still have to be slightly overpaid. When you guys prove yourselves then maybe you can get players at a normal price. There is nothing desirable about going to Cleveland for a player use to nice weather. If you put a Lombardi or two in your case next to the antique trophies you have from the prehistoric days then the FAs might take a discount like they do for Pittsburgh and NE.

I agree, until we are playoff players...we will have to over pay, albeit the amount is surely getting lower. I don't think we are talking about beating the next best offer by $1M per year... For one, we can match depending on who that team is.. We are not at the bottom of the totem pole any more. If a contender is in the mix THEN we would probably have to outbid them by a couple of million over the course of the contract, or possibly just in guaranteed money..

I am curious though, who outside of their own players have taken discounts to play in Pittsburgh?

  19. gidion72 Legend Steelers

I think I was thinking more like players would want to go to Pittsburgh. They do take discounts to play for Belichik though. The Steelers really don’t ever have enough money to pay top FAs. This year they might sign someone nice.

Maybe 6-7 years ago.. Pittsburgh diesndohave the same allure as it once did. Players keep trying to get out, it isn't just one guy, it's happened multiple times. Granted some of them feel entitled, but the sense of family you used to get from that organization is gone.
