No, but after barely beating Tampa in NFC Championship, nobody thought the Rams would even be able to keep it interesting against the mighty Steelers...Feragamo did manage that. I hated those Pittsburgh teams....

 

The Rams hung with them until the middle of the third quarter. Then the wheels fell off.

 

The Bears are gonna score 80. Probably in the first half.

 

Bradshaw and those guys had a way of making that happen...

 

Rams were leading going into the 4th, 19-17. They were still within a touchdown until the Steelers scored again with just under two minutes left.

That was an odd year in the NFC. Dallas, Minnesota, Rams were all in decline; Philly wasn't ready for prime time yet. Bucs had a pretty good defense; they had beaten Rams 21-6 in the regular season. This wasn't one of those great Rams teams from the early- to mid-70s - they only went 9-7. But somehow they beat Dallas in Dallas (where they had gotten crushed in the regular season 30-6) then cranked up the D against Tampa.

 

This was the team that Chuck Knox built. His contract came up at the end of the previous season and "Madam Ram" didn't want to pay him. He left and she hired an assistant coach to run things. When she got the team from her dead husband ?? That was the beginning of the end for the "Los Angles" Rams.
