There are always scenarios where the Eagles would consider it. You think if Oakland or Arizona offered two 1st round picks for Wentz the Eagles wouldn't consider it?
That offer is pretty weak. Even if you're getting Boss or the top offensive lineman in the draft plus another first-round pick.
Now someone could always offer a trade whenever they want. And who knows, they could be an offer they can't refuse but that would not be one of them and I do not think the Eagles will actively be looking for a trade. Not even to test the waters.
Never said they should actively look to trade him. But, there are trade scenarios that the Eagles would have to consider seeing as Wentz has only made it through one season out of three intact - and that one season, he had a losing record.
No but QBs usually are the most responsible for those wins or losses, which is why they make such ridiculous money. That and Foles has led the franchise to its only Super Bowl and successfully out-dueled who many people consider the GOAT at the QB position to win that Super Bowl carries a lot of weight. If I remember right though he did not play very well to start the season, which led to Wentz possibly being activated earlier than the team wanted. He's playing has caught the late season magic again and if he manages a playoff birth and possibly a playoff win then the team has to at least consider keeping him over Wentz. I don't think they would, and I think they will try to find a way to keep both. Doubtful they will be able to, no one is going to pay a backup QB $20 million and there is no incentive for Foles to take significantly less money to stay. I think Joe posted something about Foles really liking it in Philly, and him going through a really rough couple of years mentally so he may give a discount to the Eagles but I think he'd have to accept roughly $10 million a year to stay. Will he be willing to do that? possibly. I imagine the Eagles would go for that considering the question marks surrounding Wentz.
I disagree with them "usually" being the most responsible for those wins and losses. They get the most credit and take the most blame. The perception is they are the most responsible...it's probably the reality far less frequently than the average fan wants to believe. In my opinion there are at least 4 teams going to the playoffs this season where their QB is not the main reason they are headed where they are. Now the flip side of that is absolutely awful QB play will derail a team. And that's true. And you obviously want a QB that can be at his best when he's needed the most. But the Foles example is more proof that teams win and lose...not individuals. Foles did out perform Brady. Foles was awesome in that game but they had the same number of touchdowns...Foles threw a pick, Brady didn't. And Brady toasted him in yardage. The biggest difference really is that Brady took a sack and Foles didn't. The Eagles defense coming up with a sack and fumble recovery was massive in that game. Two Eagle running backs combined for over 140 yards on the ground. Not to mention a backup tight end threw a touchdown for the Eagles. That's a team win if there ever was one. Yeah many consider Brady the GOAT and he's got a lot of rings....but how many would he have if early in his career the Patriots didn't have a dominant defense and a really good run game? Probably zero. Teams win games. If you can name a QB that won a SB, or any game, by himself....I'll send you a blank check and you can fill in any amount you want.
Really not too sure what that gesture even was. Plus he seemed to direct it towards his own bench. Hue Jackson was a horrible coach though. Marvin Lewis should be fired next. Probably 4-5 years overdue as it is
Saints and Cowboys are the only teams locked into a playoff spot. Heck no other team is even locked into a home wildcard game.
The Bears aren’t locked in but they are guaranteed to play their first playoff game at home...just a matter of if it’s next week or the week after. Smart money is on next week...I don’t see the Rams losing today.
