  1. Underdog Franchise Player Patriots

The only proximity to an NFL player I ever had was my great uncle’s brother who was an All-American at Fordham back when Fordham was a football power and played for the Giants for a few years before WWII. Even in his 90’s and walking with a cane I remained supremely confident he could’ve handily whupped my ass if he had been so inclined.

Great stories guys. I went to school (3rd grade thru high school) with a guy who go on to play Major League Baseball. Multiple gold gloves/all star games as a catcher. And a World Series win. The athletic talent of these kind of guys is unbelievable to us mere mortals. He could walk in to a room full of people playing ping pong, having never seen the game before in his life. And within 20 minutes ?? Be the best guy in the room.

    Rams signing C.J. Anderson...

The Rams think running back Todd Gurley will be OK to keep playing as he deals with knee inflammation, but they are without backup Malcolm Brown due to his own injury and they reportedly made a move to shore up their depth on Tuesday.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the team is signing C.J. Anderson to their 53-man roster. The Rams haven’t announced anything, but they cleared a roster spot on Tuesday when they waived kick returner Pharoh Cooper.

Anderson spent a week with the Raiders earlier this month without playing in a game and played for the Panthers over the first two-plus months of the year. He ran 24 times for 101 yards and caught a 24-yard touchdown pass while backing up Christian McCaffrey.

Anderson doesn’t figure to see much playing time this week if Gurley’s healthy, but Week 16’s results could leave the Rams without anything to play for in terms of playoff seeding in the finale. They rested Gurley in that situation last season. (PFT)

Looked it up - wasn't a horrible loss, though. 21-14.

Dorsett missed the team bus to the airport, but since he still got to the airport ahead of the bus, Johnny Majors decided to let him travel and play.

Soup is awesome. You live in a cold climate. What do you want to eat? Burgers and fries. Cheesesteak, fried chicken, pizza, general tso’s chicken, spaghetti, Taco Bell. Did I miss anything?

He was born in Pennsylvania. But he hated playing in Philly. He was more of a Pittsburg guy.

Another true story. His dad played golf every weekend. One week, one of his golf buddys couldn't make it. His dad said Lance, you want to come along ? Lance was 15-16 years old. Had never set foot on a golf coarse in his life. And shot an 82.

Christian McCaffrey closing in on 1,000 rushing yards, 100 catches...

Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey has had a big season, and he’s closing in on a mark that only two other players in NFL history have achieved.

McCaffrey has 979 rushing yards and 94 catches this season, meaning he’s highly likely to top 1,000 yards and 100 catches before the season is over. If he does that, he’ll be just the third player in NFL history to hit both of those marks in the same year.

The only other players to do it are Matt Forte of the Bears, who had 1,038 rushing yards and 102 catches in 2014, and LaDainian Tomlinson of the Chargers, who had 1,645 rushing yards and 100 catches in 2003.

The Panthers’ current six-game losing streak has them out of the playoff race and without much to play for over the last two weeks of the season. But McCaffrey’s impressive season is one thing worth watching in Carolina, and he may soon have a rare 1,000-yard, 100-catch year. (PFT)

Which quite possibly happened all the way back in the summer, so the whole Josh Gordon saga of 2018 continues down its strange path.

Anyone else wanna look up the posts from many of the Browns fans here, claiming to have the best / one of the best WR corps in the league, largely predicated on having a healthy Josh Gordon back? Or that his missing camp was to avoid Hard Knocks, and it proved he was in a good mental state, etc? I mean, the list is long with regrettable claims / posts...

This isn't surprising in the least, for Gordon. What is surprising is that he got through as much of this year as he did. I guess that paycheck helps... What're the financial terms of his "stepping away"? I'd imagine he's not getting paid if he's not participating, right?

Patriots are going to be short handed this post season. That’s why when the Browns cut him teams should have stayed away.
