Eagles up 17 on Rams (Playoff implication)

I was told that the Bears were "marketing" Chase Daniel. If he put up solid numbers against a weak Giants D, and we win, his "value" for a trade is in the very late 3rd/early 4th round range. Maybe better, you never know. Look what the Patriots got for Jimmy G....

So, the Bears had Trubs as a healthy scratch.

In my opinion, (then and now) that is what cost us the game.

It also may have actually cost us a first round bye and a chance to host for the NFCCG...

Nagy makes bad decisions. He's a really creative, motivational, and just plain good coach. But he makes bad spontaneous decisions that really hurt us.

I can go back to week 1. I can discuss the wild-cat we ran today. I can discuss the dumb ass fake punt.

But nothing he has done during the game this year is as stupid as his decision to sit Trubisky against the Giants.

 

Completely agree. The one that always sticks with me is passing on like 3rd and 2 late in week 1.

But, again, we were told that Trubisky was a healthy scratch against Giants.

The Bears were trying to buy a break game for him.

All it did was make him rusty, put more on our D, and cost us a game that now looks like

 

And, Rams lose.

Had we not "thrown" the Giants game, we would now be in the drivers seat for a first round bye.

We will likely face the Vikes or Seahawks in the wild card game at home.

I would prefer to be rest that week and play at home the next week vs the Rams..

Most important words right there Mongo. Nagy will learn. Just like I think (we all know what my opinion on this board is worth ) that Mitch needs time to settle into the team as well. He's got promise all day long and once his confidence catches up with his skill I think he'll be unstoppable. Plus he's not a schmuck like Rodgers <spits>.

 

Maybe I'm the only one left who thinks Trubs wasn't ready to go for the Giants game.

We just beat the Packers and clinched the division. I'm not going to lose sleep over the Giants game anymore. And if we win out all we need is the Rams to lose once more to get a bye, and that is definitely possible.

 

Beat the Vikes week 17 and you might face the Eagles.

This whole thread was started because they were beating the Rams. Just saying.

 

I'd rather play the Vikings over the Eagles. Eagles are defending champs and Foles seems more clutch than Cousins.

The announcers before the game said he was a health scratch.

He had practiced during the week and by reports was throwing well.

Again, no one other than the team really knows, I suppose. And getting them to admit it probably isn't gonna happen.

 

I think we all know why Trubisky was out for the Giants game.

Hint : it’s the same reason the Bears tried to run Taquon Mizzell on 3rd, a fake punt up the middle on fourth, and have Tarik Cohen run a read option.

He plays well 2 games in a row, and you might have a "poor mans Jimmy G" trade scenario.

The Panthers are winning right now as well. They'll (Saints) probably win tonight, but who knows.

How fucking great would it be to be tied at 11-3 with the Saints and Rams owning the head to head with Rams...

I don't know if Trubisky was healthy enough to play. I suspect he was. Leaks and media say he was. But who the hell knows. What I do know is IF he was and we rested him, we're fucking dumb.

Remember when McMahon came in in 85 when we were down against the Vikes. He wasn't healthy enough to play either... Rodgers week 1? He played through that injury for 5-6 weeks. Didn't Rivers play with a torn ACL?

Sometimes you just have to play you stars. Even when they're bruised.

Every win is critical in this league.

No, the thread was started because had the Bears not blown the Giants game, the Bears would own the tie breaker and be in the lead for the 2nd seed, which means a first round bye AND a home game later in the playoffs.

Put another way, the point is not that the Eagles won, but that the Rams lost. A finer point, but the important one here.

 

Unfortunately the Panthers suck which basically erases hope of us getting the #1 seed. Still have a shot at the bye.

One of my biggest problems with Nagy is that, during games, he is willing to just throw away downs on offense. By that I mean he will call plays with almost no chance of success or do "experiments" such as putting an offensive tackle in the slot as an eligible receiver. When those plays don't work, and they most often don't, you are surrendering a down. Every down is critical.

He took that same mentality and put it into the Giants game. He surrendered a game. Not that he meant to lose but he was willing to gamble and take a chance when he shouldn't have. What bothers me the most there is that same mentality should have made him go for 2 at the end of the game and that's when he decided to stop gambling.

I like that he has balls. I like that he breaks tradition with every Bears coach to come before him. But he needs to learn that every down, and every game is indeed critical.

 

That's a really key component to a successful game. Looking at each and every down as an absolute necessity to win. Isn't there someone standing beside Nagy telling him to stop or smarten up? I would make sure to have that happening. When you get your mind set on a single goal sometimes you can see the trees for the forest ... yanno?
