and yet Hakstol is still coach ? No Giroux or Jake out on the ice in OT. Once again Mr. Shutdown Legend Coots in the wrong spot on the winning goal and failed to clear an easy rebound. Nice.

Anyone hear about the new technology with the puck changing colours when it starts to get warm?

There's a special paint that changes colour when the temp gets warmer. This will tell the ref that it's time to change pucks. A warm puck bounces around too much and is hard to control.

This will be tested out at the winter classic.

don't go back to the beam of light to follow the pucks around the ice. remember when NBS rolled this out for fans who can't follow the puck ? awful.

The Sabres have suspended Papa Swede Patrik Berglund for failing to report.

I'm not excited about this development.

I've made more comments on the Sabres board, but my thoughts may best be summed up with "WTF!".

Berglund started off good, I wonder what happened.

It's a major surprise. The Sabres have too many bottom-six players to keep everyone on the ice. My guess is he doesn't want to watch from the press box at his age.

I do not think this will a cancer in the locker room. But it's not good. Tonight's game in Washington has added intrigue since we'll have to if the team comes to play, or if they look distracted.

This is the new norm, players hitting their 30s fading out and numbers dropping will be replaced easily.

It's with hindsight that things start to come into focus. Berglund has been out the last two games for "illness". That illness seems to be "pain in the ass". He has been sheltered from the press, which is exceedingly odd for a 30 year old vet.

He watched two games from the box and did NOT take that well.

He still can produce - possibly in the 35-40 point range. So, 2 1/2 years at $3.85MM does not look excessive on the surface. But he's worse than useless to the Sabres right now, and every GM knows it.

Will someone take him for a future, let's say 6th, if the Sabres retain 50%?

I actually think he might fit into Boston's roster. They've got an odd combination of a glut in some positions together with a shortage in others due to injury. Could these long-time foes put something together that helps both teams out of a bind? (If that were to happen BOS would have to look like the trade winner since BUF's problem is a hot potato.)

Matty, come on out of sabbatical.

Berglund could see interest as a 4th liner for a playoff team looking for experience (not that st. louis had any good playoff experiences).
The sabres would have to retain some salary if that's possible.

The problem is that Berglund does not see himself as a fourth liner. His production, Blues fans, and now Sabres fans all beg to differ.

He may have to be sent back to Sweden. O.K. by me.

I think your right, Dan. He will be in Sweden ASAP if he doesn't get it going next time out on the ice, if there is a next time.

I posted AHL on the Sabres board, but a trip home would make more sense.

Looks like CGY @ MIN will get us puck enthusiast' started at the bottom of the hour. I think that's an intriguing matchup. Calgary playing really well.
