I am NOT looking forward to meeting Seattle in the playoffs. They're playing some nasty football right now.
Just unbelievable. What is it with some of these "special" unis, "color rush" unis...? They're almost (ahem) uniformly awful - they all look like XFL/WFL/NFL Europe rejects. Is it really that difficult to come up with a professional-looking color scheme...?
and yet the NFL won't let the Eagles go back to either the 1960 colors or 1980 colors but allow this nonsense. axe is right on the XFL or NFL Europe uni color scheme. PU. I found a cool t shirt of the Philadelphia Bells from i think the old World League. Cool logo of the Liberty Bell and t shirt.
The Bell (and the Frankford Yellowjackets) had colors that were a tribute to Philly's heavy Swedish influence; on the flip-side, the special unis the Eagles wore against Detroit a few years back was just HIDEOUS.
My first reaction to the "color rush" uniforms was now that we have video games in ultra high definition, why the hell is the league going to uniforms that look like the video games of the 1980s and early 1990s? Now I look at those uniforms and imagine what kind of kaleidoscopic trails they would create if you were watching the game in a, ahem, chemically enhanced state of mind.
****BREAKING**** Vikings fire John DeFilippo… John DeFilippo apparently was too worried about getting his next job to properly exercise the duties of his current job. And now it’s his former job. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Vikings have fired the first-year offensive coordinator, with three games left in the regular season. The former Eagles quarterbacks coach, pegged by many in the media as a favorite for a head-coaching gig in 2019, had become the focal point of rampant criticism for his refusal to embrace the run, and for the overall ineffectiveness of the offense. Last night’s loss to the Seahawks became the low point for the 2017 NFC finalists. Now, two years after a Monday night debacle in Chicago resulted in the abrupt departure of former offensive coordinator Norv Turner, DeFilippo is out. Per Rapoport, quarterbacks coach Kevin Stefanski will call the plays in DeFilippo’s absence. Given that coach Mike Zimmer delegates the entire offense to the coordinator, it would be prudent for Zimmer to be directly involved in a stretch run that consists of three de facto playoff games.
DeFilippo did a real nice job with Philadelphia last year, but he clearly has a much different philosophy than Mike Zimmer. That was just a bad marriage.
I don't quite understand how Miami is over a TD underdog to Minnesota. Yes Miami isn't that good on the road and the Vikings only lost to sure playoff teams plus the Bills but They are trending in opposite directions. This is a huge game. Biggest of the week IMO, as far as importance goes.
There's a lot of solid candidates for DROY, but I'm not seeing Justin Reid's name mentioned and it should be.
HE's getting completely ignored on many rookie tracking sites. He still has a chance. It's a tight race between about 3 guys with 2 or 3 more right in there, including Reid. Right now it seems to be between Derwin James and Darius Leonard. Honestly I think it's Leonard by a decent margin and James is getting a bump from his pedigree. Still a few weeks to go though. LVE, Chubb, Ward, Reid. I think those are the other contenders. LVE is making a late push in the Dallas playoff push spotlight, Chubb has that Sack record and Ward and Reid are in similar boats. Likely too far to strike but if they can bust out they can get that late "what have you done for me lately" boost.
Honestly he's not really that close to Gurley if we keep it to positions. You may think it's close-ish on the stats but 6 more TDs is a big difference when all else outside situation is pretty equal.
Hope my Giants are paying attention. I hated them bringing in Shula and still do, he felt like a "I guess this is what's left" hire. Though I think the real target for the Giants was the guy the Vikings elevated when they fired DeFilippo -- Stefanski was Shurmer's preferred OC candidate last year but the Vikings wouldn't let him interview for the job.
