What he meant was that if there is a team called the Metropolitans then it would be weird for the division in the Eastern conference to share the same name.

Steelheads are the state fish. Idaho would have to give permission for Steelheads to be used in the US and I assume Mississauga would in Canada. Mississauga probably wouldn't care much as long as logos weren't similar but Idaho may be a problem.

I doubt an ECHL would have the clout to block an NHL team. They'd probably agree to have the Idaho Steelheads switch their affiliation from Dallas to Seattle; for geographical purposes that would work for both.

I still think they'll be the Seattle Stiff Wooden Poles.

 

Also the Mets never played in the NHL. Back then the Stanley Cup was a challenge cup that was played between league champs by invite. Once all the other major leagues folded the cup was the NHL's trophy only. Technically it isn't their cup and the Hall of Fame decides who plays for it and there was a brief discussion during the lost lockout year if Semi-pro teams and the memorial cup champ should have a tournament for it.

I honestly just don't want Emeralds. Mets is really only on the table because they won a cup and then went 2-2-1 in another final before it was cancelled thanks to the flu and it ending Montreal Canadiens' players careers and in one case life.
