I'm the first to report on a trade or free agent signing, no matter what team it is. I'm the first to report any suspensions or fines, no matter what the team. I'm the first to post a beauty goal or illegal hit to the head video. I even post things to entertain that are unrelated to hockey.

Tell me I'm the reason people are leaving? Let them leave, I don't give two fucks.

It has nothing to do with you. People leave on their own. You have changed lately skinny... you seem like your attacking peeps whether you realize it or not, but the bottom line is this. People can stand their ground and rebut or just leave, I wish they would choose the former.

I like you bro, but you do seem to be rattling some cages and folks are not taking it lightly.

Im done trying to keep the peace. This web-site is the best there is. I will enjoy it no matter what happens, I do wish there was more togetherness than the sepratist stuff that seems to be prevalent latly.

Lets all just realize it is what it is and enjoy it. Life is tough, life is short, but thank god we have a common place to get together and have some fun.

I will now return to my normal behavior and keep still... let peace reign.

I mostly do my own thing here, like I said, I contribute much more than just a leafs fan. Bob rattled my cage constantly, if you remember, the leafs were bad for a long time as I posted on here, but still remained civil. I can't see how I'm pissing anyone off other than dan and dine, who attacked me and a few others from the ditch.
If someone can't take a little critique about their team, well then, it's not me that's the problem, just my opinon.

Two posters that can take a little constructive critique about their teams are Will and Cat, cheers!

I just want all of us to step up and help each other and lift each other up and make this a better place. I'll start with myself. :)

I don't see any problems here with the posters that show up here everyday and contribute.

There are not a lot of people that know why he and I suddenly parted ways, but this is similar to why Lulz and I started having issues here.

No member gets to decide who stays here and who does not. If a person posts more than someone else it doesn't give them the right to push the other person out just because they don't agree with them.

The ToS is for everyone, not the select few, and the goal is for the site to grow bigger, not smaller.

If there was more emphasis on bringing in new people for discussion and less emphasis on trying to piss off the people already here then there would be less hand wringing over opinions that some might disagree with.

At the same time I have no time for posters that don't show up as much as they used to and complain about how the existing posters drivel and the quality isn't what it used to be. How about they show up and try making it a better place, and stop being so senstive about their teams. How about people stop personally attacking other posters because they cheer for the other team.
I don't see what the big difference here with the way it was three or four years ago than today. Some of the topics and converstations aren't taking place the way they did back then because those that were having those discussions don't show up anymore.
Anyway, I don't see anyone discouraging new members from hopping on board here.

The reality is that there are posters that come here and are unable to refrain from personal attacks, plain and simple.

Can you say that you haven't done this as well?

  15. skinny123 Guest

No, not on the political boards, that's a different story, there were a few that really pissed me off. On the hockey board, I realize that's it's just a game and don't attack people by calling them liars, losers, nasty people. Sorry, a hockey game won't get me to that point.

Skinny, you have an obvious dislike of a couple people here and it shows up in your discussions with them.

I'm not saying it's not a two way street, but what you posted reminded me of how things went down here in the past.

Members don't get to choose who posts here and who does not, and there should never be a mindset of 'fuck that guy I hope he leaves' whenever there's an ignore button and the option to simply not engage with that poster.

And I don't think some of them will ever come back, so the idea that it's OK to piss people off until they leave is obviously not a good one.

You're a good guy, Skinny. Don't let all the negative shit that bothers you decide how you respond to things.

You get to choose that. It's always your choice.

Actually what pisses ne off the most is the posters that leave or don't contribute as much as they used to. Posters that bail out of a debate halfway through.

I don't want to see anyone leaving, but using it as emotional blackmail is childish.
When you're having a debate about the trade return of a player, or the future of a UFA, no need for it to get out of hand.

It would be nice if posters could say that they were off on their prediction after the fact.

How about tax-free states? There was an ex-nhler on the radio just this past week that played for the blues and said it's a definite factor. I was called a scumbag, waste of space, loser ( you name it) tell me who has issues?

I'll be the first to admit that joe last night brought up the cap hit. He corrected me, I was wrong, I had a different idea about signing bonuses and cap hits. You learn new things about the new nhl and current cba everyday.

I have no issue admitting I was wrong, and no, I'm not a liar.

Some people choose to disengage simply because it is getting too personal or too emotional.

I walk away from a lot of conversations in a year's time simply because it's a conversation, not a debate to be won or lost, and if someone is being overly emotional about the subject there is no real discussion left to be had.

When it gets closer to draft time the emails and messages I get from people about my opinions make being called a lowlife scumbag piece of shit seem like a compliment. I don't let it bother me and I don't respond to those kind of messages.

Like I said, you get to choose what you respond to and what you don't, the same as I do. I've built up a lot of solid relationships with people both here and elsewhere in the sports community and I wouldn't have near as many if I wasted my time focusing on the ones that have a personal issue with me.

I learn things from differing opinions that make me better at what I do so disagreements are a valuable resource, but people that hate just to hate are a waste of time so they get none of mine.

The only difference is that the hockey community is much smaller and more tight knit. I always tried to make it a point of trying not to engage negatively with the hockey posters on the politics thread. I didn't want to see any animosity get carried over to the hockey threads.

The hockey threads have always been like the small town compared to the football threads. That's why when a certain poster started to blast his fellow hockey posters on the football threads, I knew it wouldn't end well.
If people want to walk away without closure that's fine. I think the least someone could do after taking the time to go back and forth is simply say,
"we'll see what happens, not too sure about this one".

    To each their own.
