Of course the Sabres can get assets for Skinner if they make the decision to move him. An assertion of the opposite demonstrates an acute lack of acumen. The Sabres got the first for EK that I had asserted. They got more than what you claimed. How does that make you right? You are perilously close to getting your wish, if your wish is to run people off this site.
Comments along the lines of a top heavy team, and that the D is lousy, are anti-Sabres remarks from the pathologically unstable perspective, or from someone without hockey acumen, or from a liar.
First of all, calling me a liar is the biggest lie told on this site. not right to smear someone like that. No, the sabres won't move him, therefore they won't get assets. No team making the playoffs carrying a 50 goal scorer would move him, impossible. You said they would get a high first a prospect and and good roster player for EK. You insisted and ended up being wrong. Not that I really care. I don't wish to run anyone off the site, but if someone goes over hockey disagreement, nothing I could do to help them on that one. Maybe Ed Kilgore could post here and we could get a decent sabres thread going.

Well I felt that some of the guys who left posted drivel and nonsense from time to time but it didn't bother me. D-line and his constant posting about the Florida Panthers off their own thread was a pain in the butt but no reason to leave the damn website. Same for the other guys who left. They left Bc of the drivel? Wow. I didn't take any of those guys as guys who cared what was posted-drivel or Pulitzer Prize winning posts. I just thought they got busy with real life stuff and would come back on when they had time etc. there's a ton of drivel on this site. Threads left and right of it. That wouldn't make me not come here anymore. Too many good threads and people to quit on for me to leave this entire website. I wish some of the core guys would come back. I can't guarantee my posts will be any more better or any less filled with drivel. Sorry.
I've been down that path with you before, and before continuing a conversation that was not going anywhere, I stepped back. That's what cooler heads are encouraged to do. Skinny I have met Dan before in Vancouver.......he is a good man and just so happens he supports the Sabres. Skinny your a Leafs Fan and I'm sure your a good guy.....BUT your on a Buffalo Sabres Thread........Cooler Heads always Pervail........you know I'm from the West Coast and we hate the Leafs out here......I've told you that before and also we Think Toronto is the Center of the Universe......BUT I can still talk to you and read your Post's without derogatory comments......Skinny Dan is a good guy and he keeps me Updated with up and coming Sabres for Fantasy Hockey......I added Lawrence Pilut to my Prospects (keeper league)....and I also read your Post's for INFO on Prospects and Leaf News............. Thank you to everyone (and that means everyone). I am going to post my response to the digressions of the recent days in the Ditch. That's where much of this has been posted. As for the Sabres, I am obviously pleased that they're now getting attention for positive reasons. I agree, Joe, they are solid. That does not mean I think they're as good as the current standings indicate. Actually I think there are three teams in the Atlantic that are better than the Sabres. They belong in the playoffs this season and that's what I now expect. Therefore, I expect they'll be the 7th or 8th seed as a wildcard. Once Rasmus Dahlin grows up, on the other hand, I think they're going to be scary-good as DJ likes to say. My comments will be in the Ditch later today, until then thank you again to everyone.
I am not a huge fan of a wholesale copy & paste. But, I like this report and I think it does a good job of summing up where Buffalo's thinking is regarding changes to this year's roster. The team is, at this point, much more likely to be a playoff team than in the draft lottery. They also have needs - just like almost every team. However, I think they should still focus on the future and be pleased that the expectation for when they become a contender is closer than what most thought in September. Buying in February is not likely to be a huge benefit in the post season, but it could derail an opportunity for a multi-year run as a legitimate SC contender. They could even be sellers for non-essential players. GM Botterill is focused on building up the farm teams and developing an exceptional core of players that are currently between 18-24 years old. If a player is not exceptionally skilled, or if he's older than the age range here, then he may be expendable if the right deal is offered. The team sits third place in the Atlantic Division with a two-point lead over the Boston Bruins, and are one of the most exciting groups in the entire NHL to watch. The additions of forwards like Vladimir Sobotka, Conor Sheary and most importantly Jeff Skinner have spread out their offense and allowed them to roll dangerous lines out on a more consistent basis. That early success has led some to wonder if the team will cash in some of their future assets to pour gasoline on the rebuild, acquiring rental players at the deadline to help along the 2019 playoff push. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet throws some cold water on that fire, saying that he’s heard the opposite. Buffalo isn’t looking for rentals, but could be interested in more young players under team control. Speculation will continue to run rampant because of the Sabres’ stocked draft cupboard. The team holds three first-round picks in the upcoming draft, including those from the San Jose Sharks and St. Louis Blues. While the Blues pick could potentially be pushed to 2020 if St. Louis ends up with a top-10 selection, the Sabres are still set to add some big pieces to their future in June. Adding more talented prospects to a rebuild that is already obviously heading in the right direction is fun, but if the team believes they can compete in the short term there might be reason to buy at the deadline. Interestingly though, the Sabres actually could be in a position to be one of the biggest sellers if they so chose. While they hope to re-sign Skinner to a long-term deal, he would be one of the most sought after commodities on the market if put up for sale. The 26-year old forward is a pending unrestricted free agent and is experiencing a career renaissance in Buffalo, registering 21 goals through his first 31 games. Even Jason Pominville, now 35, could draw some interest despite his hefty cap hit. That $5.6MM number looks a lot smaller as the deadline approaches, and with 18 points in 29 games there is obviously still talent there. Nathan Beaulieu, Jake McCabe, Zemgus Girgensons and Johan Larsson are all pending restricted free agents with unclear futures in Buffalo, while veteran defensemen like Marco Scandella and Zach Bogosian are only under contract for one more season. Obviously the Sabres won’t trade away the whole team if they’re in a position to make the playoffs, but it will be interesting to see what happens if they struggle over the next two months. Despite their success the team is still very early in a rebuild that could end up putting them among the league’s elite if done correctly, but there is no clear blue print on how that is done.
