Gotta expand to 8 teams... this current system is complete BS. Why the hell is Michigan even in the picture?
Because their only losses are to 12-0 Notre Dame and 11-1 tOSU. Where else would you put them? I would have Central Florida ahead of them, but I think that was a reflection of the loss of McKenzie Milton.
You're probably right about Michigan. 2 losses knocks them out of contention. However: If #1 Alabama beats #4 Georgia in the SEC Chamionship game (probable) - then Georgia is out, Alabama is in. If #2 Clemson beats whatever ACC cupcake in the ACC Championship game - the Clemson is in. #3 Notre Dame is in regardless due to no conference chamionship game risk. If #14 Texas beats #5 Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game (possible) - then Oklahoma is out. That leaves Ohio State with a shot at the #4 seed if they beat Northwestern in the Big 10 chamionship game. If Georgia somehow upsets Alabama, then the playoff field is set regardless of what happens in the Big 12 and Big 10 championship games as Bama would probably only drop to #4.
If Georgia beats Bama in the SEC championship they will probably face off in the National Championship Game. The SEC almost always offers two championship caliber teams. It really makes it hard on SEC teams because they always have an opponent in the championship that is worthy to make the playoffs.
to me if bama loses to georgia, it depends on the score. a blowout should drop them out of #4. to me if you lose this late in the season, you should drop somewhat far. 1 to 4 isn't far enough. Ohio State lost to Purdue by 29! Purdue without Drew Brees and Mike Alstott! Sorry but they should not be in the playoffs on that fact alone!
how? who is #1-4 if georgia beats bama ? 1 clemson 2 georgia 3 nd 4 bama or georgia going to #1 and playing bama again in the playoffs? i don't see how they can play in the finals if georgia beats them for the conf title gid.
One . . . Georgia will be lucky just to beat Alabama. No way they would blow them out. Two . . . Agree that Ohio State's loss to Purdue was damaging. But the fact remains they are currently at #6. IF Ohio State hadn't lost to Purdue, do you really think Notre Dame would be sitting there at #3 ? They have exactly one (1) quality win this year over Michigan.
The only thing that gives Georgia a good chance against bama is the fact that their coach was a coordinator at bama and has a great knowledge of how they do things.
do you really think Notre Dame would be sitting there at #3 ? They have exactly one (1) quality win this year over Michigan. HORSE MANURE.........Wolverines were ranked @ 14 and Irish waxed them Stanford Ranked @ 7.....Irish waxed them 38-17 Syracuse Ranked @ 12....Irish waxed them 36-3 NC is on the Table for ND........GO IRISH GO.
They also waxed Wake Forest 56-27, Virginia Tech 45-23, Navy 44-22 and FSU 42-13. OBTW: I wouldn't call 24-17 (Michigan) waxing someone. Stanford finished at 9-3, Syracuse at 7-4. Not quality wins in my book. Keep in mind, I'm a Notre Dame alum - not a hater. I really wish they would join a conference (any conference with a championship game) and take the "cupcake schedule" monkey off their back.
what was beating #12 syracuse ? again no one saw fsu, usc and stanford not doing well this year. i believe all were ranked last year. so that's 3 ranked teams on their schedule, plus michigan and add syracuse and northwestern. that's 6. hard to blame ND for other teams not doing well when 6 teams had potential to be ranked this season. not even including va tech either. OSU didn't just lose to Purdue. they were embarrassed and ran out of the stadium. one of the worst losses in the career of Urban Meyer. ND is at #4 over Georgia then if OSU is unbeaten. 1 Bama 2 Clem 3 OSU 4 ND I don't see Georgia with 1 loss leapfrogging ND with 0 losses. https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...be-difficult-for-ohio-state-to-jump-oklahoma/ OSU has some wins over some ugly teams in close fashion. not so sure how much love OSU would get??
only haters say "cupcake schedule." bama plays the freaking citadel. enough said. again schedule made in prior years when fsu, usc and stanford were top 15 ranked. so now it's ND's fault they are not doing well, so now they're cupcakes? that's bullshit. ND has 3 prior ranked teams from last year on their schedule this year! that's not a cupcake ! add in ranked michigan, syracuse and northwestern and that's 6. that's the majority of their games vs ranked teams! cupcake? hahahaha

I never said OSU played a tough schedule. But they have played 4 teams ranked in the top 20 THIS year (about to be 5). I couldn't care less where a team was ranked LAST year.
