And I don't see Bell taking a deal even if it was just on principal with a big FU to the CBA and Steelers brass. I said before it made sense to trade for him last moment, cap wise, but not really to sign him in the summer.

$30 Million a Year ? He better start playing like he's Tom Brady then ! Pfft. $30 mil? i don't give him $23 mil after this season!

  3. Jeanquev Legend Steelers

Conner had nothing to do with my comment on Sanders it was more a reflection of Bell and how he does not need to be behind a great or good line to perform (IMHO).

Like it or not, Cousins set the new bar. So, you either pay him $30M per year under a normally structured contract or sign him to a 3 year deal at $29M per year FULLY GUARANTEED. Cousins wasn't/isn't or ever going to be Tom Brady, you know it, I know it, the entire NFL knows it including the Vikings, but he got $28M per year guaranteed fully. He set the new standard and every QB that has shown his moxie will achieve or set a new bar. He is the #2 overall draft pick of the Eagles, their other option is allow him to hit free agency, we all know that isn't happening.

Yeah, hopefully those days aren't over. Honestly, if anyone with a contract coming up would give a team discount, it might just be Carson Wentz...but that would still be in the neighborhood of $25M per year....

jeez. he's not having a great year for a contract extension. i wouldn't give him $30 mil. $25 tops.

  9. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

I think Matt Patricia is out of his mind and has lost the players in Detroit. He had them practicing outdoors in freezing temps again, prior to an indoor game... that doesn't make sense to me.

He has to be skating on thin ice with the Lions and definitely on the 'hot seat'.

never liked how they always had the camera on him for Pats games and the second Eagles-Pats Super Bowl. Guy got credit for a lot of success that i think was really Bill Belicheck's!

Started screaming at the TV as soon as I saw that hit last night. Should have been flagged, not even a question.

But still love me some Jaylen Smith.

The Cowboys defense is pretty damn good.

Watching Smith and Vander Esch last night....I almost thought I was watching Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs. They were a factor on just about every single down.

as a ND fan, i am very happy to see Jaylon Smith doing and playing so well. kudos to the Cowboys for taking a chance and drafting him. to the teams that passed on him, better make sure your Doctors know what the hell they are looking at. Smith was a projected top 5 pick until he got hurt on a very odd injury that didn't seem that bad at all when it happened.

Better. They aren't Singeltary, Marshall and Wilson by no means at this point. I have watched the Cowboys play a lot over the last mont(most of us have) Smith is a complete stud and Van Dam is well an aggressive young man. These guys is healthy could be the best LB dou in the last 25 years.

Doubtful u doubt he even clears waivers. Some team will take a chance and he is young enough to play again.

I don't think anyone claimed him, and if so he likely won't be signed until this is cleared up in court. If unclaimed, I would guess he is done for this year and someone will pick him up in the offseason on a much cheaper contract than he would've gotten as a FA.

Between Urlacher and Briggs you have 15 Pro Bowls, 5 first team All Pros, 3 second team All Pros, an NFL Defensive Player of the Year, a rookie of the year, and a member of the 2000s all decade team. Oh, and a first ballot Hall of Famer.

So while Smith and Vander Esch are looking really good....they have a bit of work to do to be better than Urlacher and Briggs.
