Well, here we are week 13 of the 2018 NFL season...and the Browns are actually in the playoff hunt.

Some will say, well yeah, they aren't mathematically eliminated yet, but they aren't making the playoffs.

Well, I think it's time to keep tabs on their playoff progress.

As of the end of week 12, the Browns are sitting here:

    upload_2018-11-27_8-42-59.png

That means simply put, they are currently 1.5 games out of the final Wild Card game with 5 games remaining.

The good news is...If they take care of business, they can make up 1 game on 3 teams, simply by winning, as they play the Broncos, Bengals and Ravens in 3 of those final 5 games. They will need help with the rest.

    SO, ON TO WEEK 13:

If they win against the Texans in Houston, they will automatically pick up a game on 2 teams, the Texans (who are out of reach anyway) and more importantly either the Bengals or Broncos, who play each other.

Here are the rest of the matchups, teams highlighted that we need to LOSE:
Ravens @ Falcons, Falcons have been reeling, but I am hoping they pull this one out at home.
Colts @ Jaguars, The Jags are also reeling, but again, I am hoping for a home field miracle.
Bills @ Dolphins, this will be an interesting game to watch. The Bills have been playing better, but are on the road.
Jets @ Titans, I am guessing we will need the Titans to lose in the coming weeks as I don't see them losing this one.
Broncos @ Bengals, as mentioned before, we make up a game on one and don't on the other...we also play both, so this game is the least interesting for our playoff hopes as all the rest. Either way we gain on an opponent in front of us.

At the end of the week, I predict we move ahead of two teams on this list after surprising the Texans at home.

Houston is on an eight game winning streak. Impressive (since I don't think Cleveland has had one of those since the '50s), but also someone has to break that streak. Could be us on the short week.

Either way, Baker versus Deshaun ought to be fun to watch.

I'm just happy that Thanksgiving leftovers are almost gone and we're not talking about the draft.

    A) I hope we aren't in position to take Oliver, whom I expect to be gone in the first 15 picks
    B) I'm not sold that DT will be the best position available when we do pick. If we are somewhere in the vicinity of #20, we will probably be looking at a WR or CB.

True... today I think we're slotted at #9 overall. When the season ends in February, we'll be sitting probably at 32nd overall? #FeelingDangerous

I jest now about Oliver as I do expect him gone in the Top 5 picks, but there's already hand-wringing over his "altercation" on the sidelines with his coach and people complaining that he's too much of a freak athlete to play DT at the next level (great, I see him as a DE anyway). He's a guy who started the season as the consensus #1 talent and has been knocked down a couple pegs already and we're not even in silly season yet.

Or the 2019 Indians chances for making the playoffs.....

And you guys are out of the running for the top pick in the draft. The way you guys are looking you might even get out of the bottom half of the draft.

That would be nice. Haven't been able to say that since, what, 2007?....

The Texans are the biggest hurdle: Away against a good team, with a pass rush. If we can climb that mountain, we could run the table.

Camolina at home feels much more winnable than Houston Away. We put up a W this week, we'll start getting mentions, coming off a 3 game win streak.

It's nice to still be playing meaningful games at this point. Makes you wonder what might have been if our HC / OC actually had worked together at the season's start.

    Why?

The implication here is that the Packers are going to fire Mike McCarthy at the end of the season and he is one of, if not the first name on John Dorsey's coaches list.

I for one do NOT want Mike McCarthy as the next HC... I would state right now, before the final 5 games are played, that I would rather have Gregggg Williams than Mike McCarthy.

Agreed wholeheartedly. Hoping this is one of those occasions where Allbright's source is wrong.

Same here. I thought he was getting a front row seat.

just remember: its pronounced "JIF" :p

Im on board with Williams over Mccarthy. Aaron Rodgers had to be perfect for that team to do anything. When he is below that, they don't win.
