and even earlier on the West CoaSt. what about the US based fans who now have to pay even more money to get passports and fly to London? keep it where it belongs. you don't see the EA Cup here or any European soccer championship game. Not fair to the fanbases in the Super Bowl to have it in another country for the traveling expenses alone. People can't drive to London. They can drive to a US city within the US.

I don't think he was actually advocating moving it....as he said multiple times he was just saying attendance and ratings would be fine. And they would be.

And anyone that can afford to fly to London probably isn't worried about the cost of a passport and likely already possess one.

If it makes you feel better I'm probably only like 6'3 1/2 because old age makes you shrink.

It's like the Olympics...some cities have actually lost money hosting it.

Calgary voted NO to Hosting in 2026.........dealing with IOC is a Huge Money issue.....they are saying Calgary/26 would have been 7 billion $ US.........OUCH and Tax Payers would have been on the lamb.....and now the ICO has a big problem.........Stockholm is going to bail as well leaving a question mark for which City will Host.

Vancouver did OK when we Hosted in 2010......they actually made a profit and we as in City got major infrastructure .....driving to Whistler now is really nice.

many cities that have hosted the Summer or Winter Olympics went bankrupt because of it. The key to success is using the nearly built facilities for other means after the Games are long over. In Atlanta, they used the old Fulton County Stadium for the track and field events. That was great as it was being torn down for Turner Field. Then the local colleges helped out for the swimming events.

Athens, Greece is in ruin due to the cost they spent on the games. I think Beijing isn't doing much better. I know the World Cup and Summer games in Rio is a mess and most of the new soccer stadiums they built are empty and overgrown with foliage and weeds. they only built them a few years ago. Former President Barrack Obama wanted Chicago to have the Summer Olympics? Chicago is crazy already with summer traffic. Where would you put all those visitors, athletes, venues and cars? It would be a mess. SaMe for NYC and Philly. The cities are overcrowded now, add all of the athletes etc and it's a mess. No thanks.

LA hosted the '84 summer games and made a fortune. They still have youth sports programs that run off the money generated by those games. The traffic wasn't that big an issue. Most of the locals just stayed out of LA.

Now Montreal ??? It took them decades to pay the bill for that one. ('68 winter games ???)

all i know is LA is a large city and has venues to host many of the events. every few years they post a financial statement of the former host country and it's not pretty in most cases. Vancouver and Salt Lake City did well as of late. The others not so much.

One thing you have to consider, Cat. Not every dollar brought into a host city is accounted for. In some cases, if a city forecasts a $5M profit, and they only bring in $4M, they still made $4M but claim a $1M loss. (Those are hypothetical figures)

Another hidden benefit to the host city is the taxable income of all the people who built or prepared the various venues for the games. That taxable income isn't reported in the Profit/Loss statement for the games. And neither is any post-games income from lease arrangements generated by an organization (NCAA, FIFA, etc.) that leases a venue after the games are over.
