In all fairness the refs took 4 points off the board for the lions. That was a safety and the 2 pt conversion broke the goal line. The refs are just dumb. Plus at times I really believe they are involved in point shaving schemes.
You're the 4th person to say this. Why was it a safety? Mitch was clearly outside of the endzone when he was tackled. Yes, he landed in the endzone, but that's not the rule.
I thought it mattered where the ball was and on that play it looked, to me, that the ball was on the plane of the endzone.
Like BWW said. Mitch was outside the end zone. But then he retreated backwards as the Lion was about to hit him. When the Lion made contact with him the ball was on the goal line. After the point of contact forward progress comes into play. But when Mitch retreated backwards on his own you have to count the backwards yardage up until he was hit. Since the ball was on the goal line that’s a safety. In regards to the 2 pt conversion same thing. The Lion was stopped right at the goal line but you could clearly see the ball touching the goal line. That play was less obvious than the safety though.
I can agree with the Mitch play, mostly because he was retreating at contact so when touched the back of the ball is just touching the plane. However, I don't see any way you find clear evidence that the ball touched on the Lions 2 pt. It *might* have but it also might not have gotten there.
The safety definitely was much clearer than the 2 point conversion. I thought the 2 point conversion was clear enough. I just find it silly to complain about the officiating like all the calls somehow go against the Bears
