Wings or flyers should pick up Q.

Senators players apologize after being filmed ripping assistant coach...

Six players from the Ottawa Senators have apologized to assistant coach Marty Raymond after their private comments were caught on tape and leaked to the public on Monday.

The video, which was first reported by the Ottawa Sun/Citizen, shows Thomas Chabot, Dylan DeMelo, Matt Duchene, Alex Formenton Chris Tierney, Chris Wideman and Colin White in an Uber in Phoenix on Oct. 29 trashing Raymond’s coaching style.

The video ranges from Duchene poking fun on the Senators woeful special teams play, which Raymond heads up, and at one point even saying he hasn’t paid attention in video meetings in weeks.

Wideman can be heard saying that Raymond doesn’t teach the players anything.

“Marty Raymond, the only coach in NHL history to have the worst power play and the worst PK within a calendar year,” Duchene says.

“Do you notice that when (Raymond) runs the video, if you actually do pay attention, he doesn’t ever teach you anything? He just commentates what’s happening,” Wideman adds.

“Here’s the other thing, too. We don’t change anything, ever. So why do we even have a meeting? I haven’t paid attention in three weeks,” Duchene responds.

The Senators released statements on behalf of the players and head coach Guy Boucher on Monday night:

    Boucher:

“Nothing is more important to us during this rebuild than making sure our players and coaches are fully committed to our plan, our values and our system of play. We have every confidence in Marty Raymond’s coaching; in the effort and determination of our team; and in the sincerity of our players’ apology. We are now treating this as a team matter, and will be making no further comment to the media.”

    The players:

“We want to apologize publicly to Marty Raymond, our teammates and coaches for our comments in Phoenix, Arizona on October 29. Our private conversation was recorded without our knowledge or consent. We’re passionate about our team, and focusing on growing together. We are grateful for the support of our fans and organization. This is an important learning experience, and we will do better.”

Uber Canada general manager Rob Khazzam took to Twitter on Monday night to condemn the recording.

“A video was released by the media today of several Uber passengers being filmed without their consent while having a private discussion during a trip in Phoenix. This is a clear violation of our terms of service and we worked vigorously to investigate this issue. Filming or recording passengers without their consent is totally unacceptable and if reported/detected we will investigate + take action to preserve our communities privacy and integrity. In this specific case, we made efforts to have the video taken down.”

The Senators host the New Jersey Devils Tuesday night. The media availability after their morning skate should be interesting. (NBC's PHT)

I'd like to think a few clubs are ringing the phone off the hook to inquire about Q... he wont be jobless long if he decides to still coach.

Flyers should call him RIGHT NOW ! For all you Hextall supporters - this is the move he needs to make.

The tape was fun to watch in a salacious way. Really, they really just spoke the truth - and with the presumption of privacy, they didn't say anything wrong. The Sens should be scouting for new coaches.

Barry Smith is on the staff too. He’s a Bowman guy.

This! This I agree with you, Cat. Philly needs a change, and I think it's at HC. If Q gets the job, and if he fails, then you can start to crank the can Hex horn.

I think Q can write his ticket to whatever city he prefers. Philly seems a good fit.

This is the one time where a team should act quick, grab him before he even gets out of the cab.

STL was my second thought for where Q may go. Yeo already has said that his job should be in jeopardy. I don't like the way that roster is constructed; it's built for success in 2010 but maybe not in 2018. I think Q may have had enough of that s#ite.

The only thing holding teams back from Q is his $5M minimum salary request.

    Not for cash strapped teams.

I think Q will go where Q wants to go. The money is not that big of a deal, and if it were it makes it easy for him to cross them off his list. The state of the organization is likely to be a critical consideration. He'll want to go somewhere where he has a real chance at another ring. If he chooses to then stick that up Bowman's a$$ is up to him.

Philly is not far from contention. They have some great young players at key areas. I think money is not a distraction for them. I think it could be a great fit. If he only wants to coach for another year or two (he's 60 and kinda already done it all) then perhaps he'd consider St. Louis. I doubt the Devils are in the market now, but his son is there and that could appeal to him.

Q will do well on a younger team. He can work his blender. On an older team like the Kings, I don't see a fit.
Q has some serious job openings in NJ, Phi, STL, Cal, Edm, Ott, LA, NYR, NYI, Fla. If I missed something hollah.
Nice win Will. Canucks are improved but not good yet.
Interesting that Det players Rasmussen and Cholowski grew up as Canucks fans. Their parents had season tickets. Both look like NHL players for years.

I think the most likely outcome is that Q enjoys an extended paid vacation and waits for the coaching landscape to shake out.

Buffalo is young & talented and they could lavish Pegulabucks on him. Of course, it would be the wrong message to can TEH Phil now. However, if they finish the season below 80 pts. then there will be a hew & cry for Q in Nickel City.

Arizona could be a candidate under similar circumstances.

Meanwhile he can do his due diligence and strike a deal that isn't frantic.

His availability may accelerate the pace to the HC unemployment line, and we could get some surprises. But for now, I think the odds are this goes to April or May.

the 3 guys on the NHL Network said last night that JQ will not go to a rebuilding team. he wants to win now and wants to stick it to chicago for getting rid of him. so that will narrow the teams a lot.

If a team has to fire their coach and then hire Q, they have to pay both salaries for the years signed.
This needs ownerships stamp of approval, not all teams would do that.
