Ravens vs. Steelers, Part Deux: Gameday thread & Harbaugh on the hot seat

Not going to comment on the possibilities of the game. I'll leave that to others. I will comment on this, "Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is under “mounting pressure” to turn his team’s season around, per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. The Ravens started out the 2018 campaign strong, but since a primetime victory over the Steelers in Pittsburgh staked Baltimore to a 3-1 record, Harbaugh’s club has dropped three of its last four to fall to third place in the AFC North. And, while a midseason firing is not expected, an ugly loss against the Steelers today would give team brass a lot to think about in that regard.

Indeed, owner Steve Bisciotti said earlier this year that he considered firing Harbaugh at the end of the 2017 season...

if the Ravens win their next two games (home divisional contests against Pittsburgh and Cincinnati), Baltimore will have an 85.6% chance of making the playoffs. If they lose both, the odds drop to 10.4%.

Further complicating matters is the fact that this will be GM Ozzie Newsome‘s last season at the helm, and assistant GM Eric DeCosta, who will take over for Newsome, does not have as strong of an attachment to Harbaugh. Plus, rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson is reportedly not progressing as well as the team had hoped, which also reflects poorly on the head coach."

I earlier posed the question whether Harbs would make it through the bye, let alone through the year. I think the game today decides his current fate. If the Ravens win, then he gets a reprieve. If they lose, then it might depend on circumstances, such as how much they lose by and/or the overall quality of team play. But, the statement by Bisciotti and the last paragraph about DeCosta's "attachment" to Harbs and Lamar Jackson not progressing as expected, says volumes.

I just can't pick a winner in this one. I think I officially said the Steelers in the pick 'em but this is going to come down to game plan unless one player can unleash regardless of gameplan. Maybe that's why I picked the Steelers, because they are more likely to have a player do that.

So there was a lot of talk, not necessarily here, about Lamar not being ready because he missed an open Snead. Well, Joe has missed two open receivers already and he had a clean pocket for the first one

Fuck joe. I know its early but that was BS

His read was Jackson, HE WAS WIDE OPEN THE ENTIRE TIME and he didnt even fucking look at him, he straight up tunneled brown under double coverage with a backer dropping out of zone as well

    moronic decision

I disagree. That was an easy TD if Flacco doesn't do his usual tunnel vision act

As a QB, motion is supposed to help you. He should have easily ready that NOBODY move with Jackson.

People say this a lot, but i legit think i could do a better job than flacco, height may be an issue but with what i have around me, i think i would do phenomenally better than joe if i took his spot- mostly because id just sit the on the bench and tell jackson to go!

People are calling joe out right now on the broadcast over here, its not a conspiracy, the motion route is such an easy read, as RR1 said NO ONE FUCKING SHADOWED HIM, at worse its 5 yards easy and probably more.

    argh!

Suggs is a man possessed, he is playing lights out so far, single handily keeping the PIT O off balance

Now come on joe, get it together

You know, I honestly expect(ed) the Ravens to win this game. Yet, a loss just wouldn't surprise me at all, whether it's by 3 points or 30. A defensive backfield that can't tackle, a QB that can't read defenses and can't hit his second read, and a HC who's just along for the ride. We need at least 1 of these things to change to have a shot at a win. Just one

I wonder how much more successful those Jackson plays would be if they just let him throw.

I'm not on the "Fire Harbaugh" train like others, but I certainly always see the benefit of fresh voices leading a team after a while. That being said, what could Harbaugh have done in this game to make Flacco see a wide open Lamar Jackson with no one half a field away from him, and what could Harbaugh have done to make Crabtree catch yet another TD pass right in his hands?

I am not sure anyone has openly berated harbs thus far today or blamed him, its all been targeting joe because both of those situations were on Joe

Harbs' issues are more operational and behind the scenes
