27-11 in shots now, not a shot this period for the hawks.

  3. skinny123 Guest

First shot in the third for the hawks, took 10;32, still winning.

Pekka is the only player in NHL history to have signed a contract and pitched a shutout on his birthday... TWICE!

So Pekka is adding 2 to reach 10? Good deal and his wife should be happy too.

there were moves to make this summer besides JVR to help the team without breaking the bank and hex did nothing.

their "stout D pipeline" is a pipe dream Dan. they stink. The Flyers have done what the Phillies have done for years. They made their prospects better than what they are and when it came time to make a trade and move them, they would make their stock price so high in value so they would ask for someone very solid back in a trade. once teams started to do their own research the jig was up. morin is always hurt. haag is somewhat decent. ghost is mediocre and hot and cold. sanheim is very average at best. and Prov is having a rough year. no team would trade anyone good for these guys.

the more they hold onto simmonds is a mistake as he's getting older by the minute and his value declines. the failure to move him this summer is another failure on hextall's part.

he cleaned up the holmgren mess over 3 yrs ago. time to stop using that excuse for his failures to get out of the first round of the playoffs.

    We'll see, Cat.

I know that a FO position in Philly is more taxing than in most cities. What some call an excuse, others look at as realistic expectations.

I personally feel it was unrealistic for Hex to "go for it" the past summer. The prospect pipeline is not ready yet. But, they may be ready to produce as soon as next year. Team building does not occur in a vacuum.

    We'll see.

i didn't expect him to go all in this past summer Dan. there were 1 or 2 guys i wouldn't have minded to sign here. not huge names but nice additions. he didn't do anything pat Folin and JVR. Kind of disappointing.

Meanwhile, it seems an acknowledged fact that Hex inherited more than a team in salary cap purgatory. He also inherited a team with an abysmal pipeline. It was bottom ten - at best.

Now the pipeline is, at worst, top ten and probably top five.
