HECK YEAH. I think they need a lot more. they have a lot of injuries, so if they are "all-in" to make a playoff run, then Tate is not enough.

Overpaid for depth. Then again the Eagles may have just chucked a 3rd rounder and some cap room down a hole. Tate will help but if he isn't the help they need (slot really isn't) then it would be a waste. That being said about Tate, he is a talent that can find use without disturbing anyone else.

Understood, I just don't think the opportunity cost on this season was worth what should be a late 3. Especially when they've made another recent move for another older expensive player that would've seemed to be an indicator of trying to compete this year.

Taken one pick before the Eagles when I wanted him at the draft. Then we trade our pick which became Manziel and took Marcus Smith. Oh Chip.

It's to be noted that I believe the Eagles are in line for comp pick next year if he leaves. Likely 4th rounder.

Hard to argue. Other than the idea that they may consider themselves farther away than what their record indicates and they have a similar player in T.J. Jones, it does feel as though they are potentially going away from a strength when the playoffs are still in play.

For the Eagles, I can see them getting a deal done with Tate that is just a touch team friendly and gets him locked in for 3-5 years to play a slot role with Nelson while Mack Hollins probably lines up wide with Alshon once he's healthy. Nelson will probably be the odd man out in 2020 when he hits the market.

    true. CBS reported that.

Funny thing is that I just knew the Packers wanted him. Big need and great value. Next I wanted Dennard or Verrett but they went between our OG pick and the new pick. I think at that point I wanted Kyle Van Noy or Jordan Matthews. Well we got Matthews later at least and he's been on a weird ride with this team. He wasn't strapped in and fell out off the loop... but landed back in the car at the bottom of it (shoot me).

so the EAGLES daily show on Comcast SportsNet said last night by adding Tate, they will run less, so that's why they didn't get a RB via trade. How about a cornerback? Can Tate play CB? No. How about a lineman as Johnson is out a month with a sprained MCL? Tate does help the Eagles, but with so many holes to fill and so many promises made, it seems like a fizzle from Howie and company instead of a bang.

Don't you have to start somewhere? You cant fill every hole at once...

a week ago espn and cbs reported the eagles would be a huge player with the trade deadline. they weren't Will. they got 1 guy in a position they needed the least. that's not a smart play in my book. they needed a CB and RB badly and a WR and OL almost as badly. the Eagles are basically saying with the trade they are "all-in" for this year. great. by not getting a CB, they can't beat a high powered offense like GB, New Orleans or the undefeated Rams in the NFC. Hell they may not beat divisional rival Washington either. That's the point im trying to make. When Washington gets Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and you get a 29 or 30 yr old WR, it's not the best move.

I agree with what you just stated, but I still see the offense in Philly needing more than the defense. That defense can still play, but you gotta score some too.

they reported they are 8 pts under their per game average last year in scoring. i think it was 8. that seems like a lot. tate helps, but the line needs to be better and wentz's decision making.

Eagles were not finding better help on the line for less than a 2nd round pick than they already had on the team in depth.
It seems all the RBs that could make a difference on the market were staying. Buffalo wanted Shady to Stay, Bell wouldn't give the Steelers the satisfaction, and the Texans are pushing for the playoffs so no Miller. Those were the 3 big names that could have been moved. There were others but most were mediocre at best.

Could the Eagles have traded for HaHa? I would have made that deal as well. Matching the Skins' offer may have been enough. Maybe throw in a pick swap later. He's only got 1 year 3M left.

Marcus Davenport expected to miss several weeks with toe injury...

Saints defensive end Marcus Davenport went for tests to check out how severely he hurt his toe in last Sunday’s win over the Vikings and the news wasn’t great for the first-round pick.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Davenport is expected to miss about month as a result of the injury. He will then go for an evaluation to see if it has responded well enough for him to return to action.

Davenport was in a walking boot after Sunday’s game, but was on the field through the end of the game. Davenport had two sacks in the win and has four over the course of the entire season.

With the rookie out, the Saints will likely be looking for more pass rushing impact out of Alex Okafor across from Cameron Jordan against the Rams this Sunday and in the weeks to come. (NBC's PFT)
