I want a HC who the players respect, not like. A guy who demands performance, rewards it, and makes underperformance a team issue. Discipline coupled with accountability from players and coaches. Amen

    Absolutely agree!!!

Hue lost Jarvis Landry in training camp, so went the WR room.... With that lack of respect, Baker Mayfield immediately lost respect. Without those two rooms, the coach is doomed. I think everyone respects Gregggg Williams, even if Myles Garrett questioned the Steelers game plan. The offensive players are consistently saying they need to get the same fire the defense plays with...well, maybe now they will!

I had to go back and check, but I was not giddy at the hiring of Hue. I wasn't for Pettine, either.

Last coach I got excited about was Chudzinski and before that, Crennel.

I'm not jumping on the new guys' bandwagon either, unless his names rhymes with Blinkin' Slyly. He'll have to prove it to me, just like I said with Hue (who never, ever did). Moreover, I will state emphatically now that the offensive coordinator and quarterback's coach, whether that's two positions or one, are more important to me than whomever the head coach ultimately is. You can probably throw defensive coordinator in the mix as well: OC, QBC, DC, and then HC.

    We just got that guy...

So not only were there numerous reports yesterday after the news that Baker was not a fan of Hue's... who saw any Browns player react? We trade Carlos Hyde and half the team lost it. We fire Hue Jackson, and... ?

That right there ought to tell you everything you needed to know about him.

Tomlin is a players coach. He has never had a losing record in his career. It has nothing to do with being a players coach. It really has to do with attitude and ability to teach and get the most out of players. If they don’t respect you they won’t give you that over the top effort.

No disrespect intended, but the Steelers is an organization ran from the top down. Mike Pettine could have won a Super Bowl with the team Tomlin inherited and continues to coach with mediocrity. Honest question, do you feel Tomlin is a great coach? I honestly feel the Steelers continue to win despite Tomlin.

I know that he is the only coach in the league without a losing season on his resume. A few seasons is common. Not a dozen.

No Hue was great. You just don't understand, and neither do I......We are just a bunch dumbass Browns fans that don't know any better.

Goes 1-15, then guarantees that we will never have to live through another season like that again. Promptly follows up with an 0-16 campaign....

I keep hearing that decisions will be made by John Dorsey, and .... inevitably Dee and Jimmy Haslam. Now that is not a surprise, but it seems like everyone in Cleveland media "has" to say that. It reminds me of Hue with his "I drive the bus / I am the HC" comments. It feels like the Haslams somehow "must" be honored. That they couldn't stand to have people think they are not "running" the teaam.

That, in a nutshell, defines the dysfunction. They won't / can't run the team from the background. They insist on being the ear for both the GM and the coach, thus setting up and then frowning on the inevitable discord that is a part of every team. By allowing that discord to have voice, they encourage it.

If you don't believe in Dorsey, why did you hire him? For Dorsey's part: he had to have been a key component to hiring Haley, so a strike against him, if I'm owner, and thinking about who should be choosing the next HC. Did Dorsey expect to be firing Hue? I belive he did, so it makes the Haley hire/fire all the more pertinent. It appears that Dorsey wanted to "Mahonnes" Baker because he thought he'd have to make this change, and wanted to spare Baker the turmoil of a change of voice in the Offense, but instead, Haley must have proven to be even more toxic than Hue (again an indictment of Dorsey), and the option Dorsey was planning became untenable.

He's done some truly good things with personnel, but emptying the WR room, not getting a Kicker, and hiring an OC with a reputation for "not playing well with others" to take Hue's cherished OC position, reveal he has some blind spots. BTW the Coleman, Gordon, and now the Jackson and Haley moves were all about the same thing. If you're not with us you're against us and have to go. Who's the us, and how intolerant to diversity are "us". Whats missing is the backup plan.

Worst case scenario. Dorsey got what he wanted in firing Hue, but Jimmy wouldn't let Dorsey have his way with Haley, and insisted that if he (Jimmy) had to fire Hue after he'd pledged his support, then Dorsey would have to can Haley as pennance.

I'd hate to think Jimmy is that petty, but I willingly admit I suspect he might be. The only other explanation is that Haley was so corrosive, that his staying jeopardized Baker's future. If Haley stayed as OC, they could have appointed Saunders or Zambese to HC, and let the OC / DC continue to do their thing. Perhaps Haley was told that was the plan, and gave them a great big FU (because he wanted the HC) thus forcing their hand.

Conspiracy theories 1,2 and 3. Only in Cleveland could this kind of bizarre theory have legs.

I'd like to become a team without intrigue or drama, other than on the field. Til then my mind goes off on these tangets. Sorry

i really feel like this helps them against great teams not named the patriots (we do well vs winning teams) .... too too many losses against bad teams though, the players coach fails to adequately motivate them in those situations sometimes .... it is like the players wanna prove themselves for him against the elite teams (again those not named the pattiots) but get too loose and lazy some weeks against the dregs of the nfl
