Dalvin Cook not expected back this week...

Officially, the Vikings aren’t prepared to rule Dalvin Cook out this week.

Unofficially, Dalvin Cook isn’t prepared to play this week against the Saints.

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Cook is expected to miss his fourth straight game with a hamstring injury.

The Vikings are 27th in the league in rushing this season, struggling to move the ball on the ground with Latavius Murray in the lead role.

The Vikings play the Lions next week and then have a bye in Week 10, which could factor into their decision if they want to make sure Cook is 100 percent. (NBC's PFT)

im in a fantasy league where i own this guy. the league has no IR spot. the season goes to week 14 of the NFL season, so there is a long way to go. with only 4 bench spot, he's taking up valuable space. i really wanna cut his ass, but someone will grab him in 2 seconds.

Someone with RB depth should be willing to trade you a RB you can actually use for him, then, even if it's someone with a lower ceiling than Cook.

Let's hope this Thursday night affair is slightly more competitive than last week's. Picking the Texans to win at home after their gritty victory in Jacksonville. Deshaun Watson should have recovered at least a wee bit more, although the fact that he has to play on a short week is concerning. Enter the debate over the viability of Thursday night games when it comes to franchise health. Watson's wubby: a defense that is currently eighth in average points allowed (20.6). Miami must thwart former porpoise Lamar Miller, who crawled (flippered) out from his underwater cave to run for 100 yards last week. Looks as though Brock Osweiler will have the opportunity to show the Texans what they've been missing. Uhh, I will let you run with that. (NFL.com)

    Rob Gronkowski practicing on Thursday...

The Patriots got a big offensive piece back on the practice field Thursday.

According to multiple reports from the portion of practice open to the media, tight end Rob Gronkowski is on the field and going through drills. Gronkowski did not play in Week Seven because of a back injury and didn’t take part in practice on Wednesday.

There was no injury report issued for that practice and Thursday’s report will shed light on Gronkowski’s participation level. The fact that he’s able to work would seem to be a good sign for his chances of playing against Buffalo on Monday.

On the flip side, running back Sony Michel is not on the practice field. Michel avoided structural damage when he hurt his knee against the Bears, but the recovery timeline was described as week to week so it may be a stretch for him to face Buffalo. (NBC's PFT)

NFL Referees Association calls firing of official Hugo Cruz “reckless”...

The NFL has fired official Hugo Cruz, who missed a big call in this year’s Chargers-Browns game and reportedly had several other missed calls this season. Unsurprisingly, the union representing officials is not happy about that.

The NFL Referees Association released a statement ripping the league for terminating Cruz.

“The NFL has a troubling history of knee-jerk reactions with an eye on public relations, and clearly it has not learned from past mistakes,” the statement said. “The NFLRA will protect the collectively bargained rights of all officials and will challenge this reckless decision through the Grievance process.”

If Cruz had been fired simply for missing one call, the criticism of the league as making “knee-jerk reactions” would be understandable. But Cruz was reportedly already on thin ice for other missed calls before the missed false start that should have negated a Chargers touchdown. Eventually, enough missed calls should result in an official losing his job. Players and coaches lose their jobs if they screw up too many times, and officials should as well. (NBC's PFT)

Report: Torn ACL feared for Texans receiver Will Fuller...

Houston Texans wide receiver Will Fuller is thought to have torn the ACL in his right knee in Thursday night’s win over the Miami Dolphins, according to Aaron Wilson and John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

Fuller was injured in the fourth quarter of Houston’s 42-23 victory over the Dolphins. With just over nine minutes remaining, Fuller was chased by Dolphins cornerback Bobby McCain on a deep throw from Deshaun Watson to the end zone. McCain ran into Fuller from behind as the ball was still in the air and Fuller made an awkward plant with his right leg as he went to the ground.

Fuller immediately grabbed at his knee from a seated position in the end zone and was tended to by training staff before walking off the field. He was almost immediately ruled out from a return to the game by the Texans.

Fuller will have an MRI on Friday to confirm the damage to his knee.

Fuller was Houston’s leading receiver on Thursday night with five catches for 124 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins. He has 37 catches for 627 yards and five touchdowns through eight games this season for the Texans. (NBC's PFT)

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ trip to London has already been eventful, before kickoff.

Four players were involved in some type of incident in London that resulted in law enforcement being called. Details are sketchy, but the team confirmed an incident did take place.

“We are aware that four of our players were detained over restitution of a bill. The matter is being resolved and the players are with the team. Any discipline will be handled internally,” the team said in a statement.

The four players have not been publicly identified. It is unclear whether the internal discipline will include deactivating them for Sunday’s game against the Eagles. (NBC's PFT)
