I don't post here for the same reason I don't post on the Cubs thread despite being a diehard Cub fan....there's simply no action happening here. There's really no one to talk to. We used to do Blackhawk related threads on the Bears board and I was very active in them. I've been a Blackhawks fan my whole life...I have nothing to prove to you. There are still Blackhawk fans here. They just aren't posting much. Kinda like how the Bears board went dead for a while. This message board isn't a representation of the entire Blackhawks fanbase. Few fanbases travel as well....and few sellout home games the way the Blackhawks do. The only time in the history of the franchise the fans tuned the team out is during some very dark years that started in the late 90's and didn't end until Rocky took over. Hard to blame the fans for turning on what was the worst ran franchise in all of sports. Your first question is once again a lame attempt at a joke or insult...I'm not sure which it is because it once again comes off as nonsense. You're not funny and your insults are as lame as your dick. I won't stick to football. I will continue to post on any sport, any subject, any time I want to. As previously said....you're free to ignore me. But the rent that is charged to have me live in your head isn't free.....it's costing you whatever is left of your sanity.

I've posted on the hockey boards sporadically over the years. And I will continue to do that....only maybe I'll post a little bit more just because I enjoy spending time with you.

I can only wish that BWW posted more regularly on the hockey boards. It's not that I agree with everything he say, or that I agree with the manner he expresses all his thoughts. I do not always agree or even like what he writes. However, I prefer to read that which I do not agree with (at least yet), when it is posted by someone with an objective take that I may not have considered before. BWW has a unique personality and his posts are always fresh, and he is always prepared to back up any opinion or claim he makes. I can only wish that he posted more frequently on the hockey boards.
I spend over 90% of my time on the hockey boards. However, I've been pretty quiet for the past few months (and that has nothing to do with the quality of my favorite team). There has been, IMO, a disappointing decline in the quality and tenor for what passes as commentary here- so I've been on the sidelines. (I still believe that L4S is the best damned sports chat board in existence.) Please give me a reason for coming back, and posting, more often. I travel a lot and catch hockey in any form when and where I can. My favorite place to watch hockey is the UC in Chicago. Hawks fans are knowledgeable and spirited - great traits. And, while not being obsequious, they are generally very cordial to the fans of other teams. (It also doesn't hurt to know that someone from Buffalo is going to have a good game thanks to Patty Kane.)

I 100% second this. I love this board and I have a ton of respect for Tim and how he runs it. I miss the old Stadium but the UC is a great place. Few people realize that before Chicago was a football, baseball, or basketball town....it was a true hockey town. Every team in the city came 2nd to the Blackhawks for a very long time. The way they treated Hull put a dent in that...Walter Payton stole some thunder for a while as did Ditka and then later Jordan of course. The early part of the 90s was great and the second half was abysmal. Fans didn't stop being fans....they simply refused to stop supporting the worst ran franchise in American sports. That dark period was beyond painful. Thankfully the old man finally kicked the bucket and Rocky breathed life into the team. Fans came back in boatloads and they aren't bandwagon fans. Blackhawk fans are, as you said, very knowledgeable. We have another couple dicey seasons in front of us. I think they will make the playoffs this year if Crawford can come back strong...they might not make it out of the first round but they will be there. Once some of the old contracts come off the books and they are able to keep adding talent....I think Bowman will make them a force again soon.
Bww - I know you're a real Chicago fan from your past posts. If you ever wanna talk Cubs or mlb baseball hit me up. Love talking about it. My ire with Hawks fans is not at you BWW. It's with my college buddies. We went to school in the west suburbs of Chicago by Lisle, Il. When we were in college in 91 they couldn't care less the hawks were in the finals. It was all Jordan and the Bulls. So they win 3 Cups. Amazing run. I asked several of these new reborn Hawks fans, which are really bandwagon fans, did any of them attend any of the 3 Cup parades. Not a single one of them. Now I understand some logistics are involved and people can't off of work or are too far from downtown or can't get downtown. I get that but not 1 parade. Hell half are Cubs fans and didn't even attend their parade. To me attending the parade is as important as winning the title. Growing up the youngest of 8 kids I grew up hearing my second oldest sister and oldest brother say "we took off of High School go attend the Flyers first Stanley Cup parade." To me that's what a fan does. So the when the 08 Phillies won game 4 of the World Series to go up 3-1, I told my boss "whenever they win the title, I am off for the parade." The Eagles won the SB, I told my boss the next morning " I am off for the parade." Got up at 7am to drive down to get my parade spot. I made sure I also got the morning editions of the sports newspapers too. Maybe I'm a sports geek or nerd, but to me this is what real fans do. My college buddies are just front running bandwagon fans who say they are behind the Hawks, but they like the winning but couldn't name me a 4th Hawk after Toews, Kane and Keith. Lol.
The year was 1994, Hollywood Florida, in a bar called Chicagos. The leafs and hawks facing off in the playoffs. I had to fkn beg the place to switch to hockey from the bulls. Nobody was even watching the basketball game. They put the hockey game after, we were the only table watching the game.
Much appreciated Cat....you’re one the genuinely good people on this board. There are no doubt bandwagon fans in every sport and for every team. I think Chicago teams tend to have less of them...but that might just be a biased opinion.
as a city yes, but my college buddies are guilty. none of them wore any Cubs attire in college either. now they do. either support them fully or not. it's not when you feel like it based on their success - good or poor. i've been watching the phils since 1980, the flyers since 1983, the eagles since 1984 and the sixers since 1982. Until the late 1980's the Eagles were blacked out a lot on national tv, so it was the radio for me. my parents had cable tv in the 80's so we got all the FLyers games only Philly bars got. My older brother's HS buddies would cram out parents house during the 87 Finals bc no one had cable but us and bars that would televise games.
