Since when is Pat Shurmur Jeff Fisher?

Shurmur should have never left the Eagles. It's the only place he's really had success. 1-0 as a head coach before Pederson was hired over him. lol.

    • Mariota (Titans) AFCS
    • Mayfield (Browns) AFCN

Let's make it an even 6 of 8, shall we?

The AFCN is up for grabs imho...The one that seemed like was the best in the division (Ravens) were just taken down by the Browns. I don't expect the Bengals to continue anywhere near this pace. This division is anyone's to win.

and you have a star WR you just signed for over $75 million dollars who wants Eli out as QB. Not good in NYC.

that one run where he looked tackled and ran across the field and then downfield for another 30 yards reminded me of a young Barry Sanders ! he was unreal last night.

He was good in Minny too.

At least Fisher could get to 8-8 once in a while....He's a below average coach, but still miles ahead of Pat if ya ask me.

    He's a good OC...That's where he belongs.

The Giants are interesting. Anyone who paid attention to more than undue media hype knew that they weren't a playoff team coming into this season. But, they took the stud RB like they would be, rather than investing a QB at the top of the draft, while theirs is aging and on the way out. Was it worth picking a stud RB, and taking the QB next year, rather than taking the QB now and hoping to find a competent franchise back in the future?

In the next few years, either the Giants will look like savants, and prove the doubters wrong, or they'll end up on the wrong side of conventional wisdom, and still be toiling in mediocrity at best.

The Giants always had a chance but their line was worse than most people expected. Eli Manning is fine. He is no future but the Giants have the skill positions in place on offense to win. As many times as he goofed last night, he made great throws that didn't get caught. Solder alone was not close to enough for that line. Their defense isn't great either. Either way Barkley seems like a great pick. The Giants can get their QB later. Likely this next draft the way the Giants are going. He'll get killed behind that line though so It's going to be Manning's team for at least another year unless they trade him.

I don't think the Giants are run very well by the coach and other higherups like the GM. They have a decent QB, a stud RB and a WR. They arnt the most terrible team defensively, but could use some help there.

In my opinion, and I know very little of the Giants, they need a change of pace, better work ethic and leadership without the drama.

dline said it well... they will either sink or swim in the next couple seasons or it blow up the Giants time. One thing that seems obvious to me is, they cant continue the way they are or they might just find themselves as the next O for a season team.

I know your a scorned Browns fan but it’s not like Shurmur was given a real chance in Cleveland. It’s hard to call anybody the worst with such a small sample size. He did one win worse than Mangini and Pettine who all had 2 seasons. Hue’s first 2 seasons were much worse than any of them.

It’s easy to see the drama going on with the Giants and put it all on the coach but take a step back and see the hole picture. For any coach to have success he needs support from the front office. It wasn’t Shurmur who decided to give the most prima dona of WR’s a boat load of money. That being said I think Shurmur has handled him well so far. You can’t stop players from doing things. It’s all in how you handle them. Odell was fined for his actions and I would be willing to bet he will be suspended if he keeps it up. On the field the Giants are tied for 9th best when it comes to being penalized so saying they are undisciplined is a stretch.

The O Line is a mess but how much of that can you put on the HC. Making the person formally known at Nate Solder the highest paid o lineman in the NFL was a desperate move. One that has looked really bad so far. It’s going to take time to rebuild. Hernandez is a step in the right direction.

I think it’s too soon to say waiting on drafting a QB last draft was a mistake. Just look at how Barkley has been playing. So the Giants stink it up another year and get their pick of young QB’s next draft. Shurmur has a good track record with developing young QB’s.

If the Giants are smart they will give Pat enough time to change the course.

Okay, bigshot Bears fan. I said Shurmur's team last night looked lifeless and undisciplined. Same as in Cleveland. Same as in St. Louis....It's not just about the W's and L's. The Cleveland situation was taken into account. I'm not oblivious, mmmmkay...Comparing his situation in Cleveland, to what Hue Jackson had to deal with is comical, and shows how little you know. But JFTR, I think Hue sucks too....Wasn't talking about that though. Was talking about Pat Shurmur, whose teams always look like they would rather be doing something other than playing football...It's not just the poor scorned Browns fan talkin shit here. Troy Aikman mentioned how lifeless they looked about 15 times last night. In a home game, with a national TV audience, for crying out loud. He pointed out the general confusion and chaos on the NY sideline several times as well...He said this is "losing football"...Maybe it's just me, but I think some of that has to fall on the HC......The fact that his Giants looked and played the game with the same enthusiasm as his Browns and Rams in those capacities, is not coincidental IMO... Hopefully someday he replaces Nagy, then I have no doubts that you will see what I'm talking about.

It could be interesting depending on how wild cards work out too. Say the Cowboys were to right the ship and nab a wild card and then Prescott would be add to the list

    Would love to see it.

First 25 games of Prescott's career (including playoffs) - 18-7 record, 42 TDs, 9 INTs
    Last 13 games: 6-7 record, 11 TDs, 13 INTs

Only if the Cowboys win the NFC East.

I was just adding that if they win a wild card it would put another QB on a rookie contract in the playoffs.

There is a good chance for rookie deal QBs to be Division Champs, considering there are 14 teams (including C.J. Beathard) with starting QBs playing on their rookie deals...However, that would be pretty extraordinary if they could find a way to win 6 out of the 8 spots..

So what do you have for over/under 4 QBs on rookie deals winning their division? Bortles counts as 0.5 for this purpose since it's a restructured 5th year from his original contract.
