Cowboys punt on 4th-and-1 from the Texans 42 in OT. I get that team has been struggling offensively for, oh, 'bout a year now, but with supposed sharp offensive minds in Jason Garrett and Scott Linehan, come up with something better than "punt and hope for a 3-and-out and get the ball back."

Saints roll to 43-19 victory over Washington as Drew Brees sets passing yardage record...

Monday night belonged to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

Brees posted a near perfect 153.2 passer rating against the Washington Redskins, completing 26 of 29 passes for 363 yards and three touchdowns in carrying the Saints to a 43-19 victory.

He also surpassed Peyton Manning’s record for most passing yards in NFL history with a 62-yard touchdown pass to Tre'Quan Smith late in the second quarter. Manning’s record of 71,940 passing yards had stood since the future Hall of Fame quarterback retired following the Denver Broncos victory in Super Bowl 50.

Mark Ingram scored two touchdowns in his first game off a suspension for the Saints. Ingram’s 2-yard touchdown put the Saints on the board and they would never trail in the game.

Dustin Hopkins kicked a pair of field goals for Washington from 37 and 53 yards out, but the Saints countered each score with touchdowns as Brees hit Josh Hill for a 1-yard touchdown and Ingram punched in his second score of the game from 1-yard out to give the Saints a 20-6 lead.

Brees’ 62-yard toss to Smith with 2:36 left in the second quarter gave Brees the record and the Saints a 26-6 lead.

Alex Smith would score on a 4-yard rush with 26 seconds left in the half to cut the Saints lead to 26-13 at the break, but New Orleans kept scoring in the second half.

Brees and Smith connected again on a 35-yard touchdown to push the lead to 33-13. Taysom Hill scored on a 1-yard run and Wil Lutz added a 44-yard field goal as the Saints racked up a 43-13 advantage.

Washington got a late touchdown on a 1-yard Kapri Bibbs score, but the Saints commanded the entire night.

Brees got a curtain call at the two-minute warning as Teddy Bridgewater entered to kneel out the victory.

Smith completed 23 of 39 passes for 275 yards with an interception. Passes to Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson led his teammates into big hits on a night when he was far from his sharpest. Washington also managed just 39 rushing yards on the night. (NBC's PFT)

Only question I have is how was that not a perfect rating for Brees? Only 3 incompletions, 363 yards, and 3 TDs? Thats one of the best stat lines I've ever seen.

Pretty awesome moment for a really great player and even better person.

Also pretty cool he breaks the record on a long touchdown pass.

Adrian Peterson dislocated shoulder in Redskins' loss...

The Washington Redskins left New Orleans not only mentally battered but physically bruised following the blowout loss to the Saints.

Among several Redskins players to leave hurt was Adrian Peterson, who got banged up a couple of times. First, the 33-year-old exited on the first series after his leg buckled on a hit during a swing pass. After limping to the sideline All Day would later return.

However, Peterson said after the defeat that he suffered a dislocated shoulder near the end of the first half.

"I just popped it back in and braced it up at halftime," said Peterson, via the Washington Times. "I got back in there."

Peterson added he hurt his shoulder getting hit while running a flat route. (NFL.com)

Drew Brees is a better QB and much more exciting to watch than that wooden plank with arms was.

It's a real shame they only kept one... Imagine what that path for the franchise would've been...

It’s hard to fault the Chargers for retaining Brees.

Sure, keeping $80K in a duffel bag in your apartment while other parties have access to it is ill-advised. Sure, throwing things off a balcony while people are below is a generally bad idea.

But $35K per month for a condo? ... Nope. Just can't fathom it. Just not a sound way to spend your money, duffel bags be damned.

Report: Eagles called Bills about LeSean McCoy...

The Eagles need a running back. The Eagles have cap room. They’ve been willing to bring back former players in the past.

If you’re looking to play connect-the-dots, this one makes a degree of sense.

According to Josh Reed of WIVB in Buffalo, the Eagles have called the Bills to see if running back LeSean McCoy was available.

McCoy spent his first six years with the Eagles, and would likely be willing if not eager to leave a rebuilding project for a more established team. And the Eagles could certainly use a back of his category, after losing Jay Ajayi to a torn ACL.

It’s unclear if the Bills would want to unload him, as that would be a de facto admission that this season is about getting in position for next season (and given their giant pile of dead money, it’s a reasonable position).

McCoy has two years left on his current deal, and the Eagles just restructured Fletcher Cox‘s contract to create more room. (NBC's PFT)

Brees has 3 games this season with a completion percentage 80% or above (82.22%, 80%, 89.66%) in one of the other games he completed 79.59% of his passes that's just insane. I suppose on the down side the bum only 56.25% in one game to keep him from being over 80% for the year. He also averaging 331.6 yards per game with 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Didnt several of the "experts" say he could no longer carry the saints with his arm and that the running game was going to be the way the Saints have success this season?
