  2. Gordie Howe Bridge is much needed and will help with the Flow of US/Canada traffic.

BUT Skinny there is a HUGE Engineering fault.....look at the Cables......they are slanted inwards above traffic.

We had the same problem at the Port Mann Bridge in Vancouver.....on a rainy cold day in Vancouver the water froze onto the cables and when it warmed up........the Ice fell and destroyed over 100 cars .......thankfully no one was killed.......BUT it was and still is a HUGE problem......they installed runners on the cables to get rid of the ice.........BUT it takes too long to install them and the problem continues every winter.....

Windsor/Detroit gets much harsher weather than Vancouver.......so this could become a Problem.

You would become a HERO if you brought this up to the Contractor before the Bridge is built.

Good point, I wil mention it, many times the drawing doesn't look anything like the finished product.

Everyone in my field is on this story. Banksy is a very clever fucker. Some people theorize that Banksy is Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack.
    https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-...ame-graffiti-music-similarities-a7805741.html

Apparently, fellow musician and Del Naja friend, Goldie, once uttered the name "Robert" in an interview when discussing Banksy, but then paused for a moment before finishing his sentence on the subject matter.

“No disrespect to Robert,” (PAUSE) he added, “I think he is a brilliant artist. I think he has flipped the world of art over."

The artist’s casual use of the name “Robert” re-ignited theories that Banksy is actually Robert Del Naja, the 52-year-old member of trip hop trio Massive Attack. This doesn't really prove anything, but it definitely adds to the mystery.

I guess the sale is off.

wow that's messed up. why can't his artwork be sold at auction ? have any of his other works sold at auction and not shredded ?

  8. skinny123 Guest

He shredded it himself, he placed a shredder inside the painting on purpose. Somebody there set off a remote to shred it, it's part of the art.

Picasso says, the urge to destroy is also creative.

i saw the video but why ? and i doubt the buyer knew that. they were buying the painting as they saw it not shredded to pieces. am i missing something ?

  10. skinny123 Guest

The buyer was on the phone, no way he knew it was going to be shredded, it was meant to be a surprise (shock art).

fuck that. how about a shock reimbursement payment. he bought it as is not shredded. i can only imagine the backlash from that fiasco !

  12. skinny123 Guest

The money wasn't paid, I don't think the buyer owes anything.

oh ok. imagine if he did and it was shredded? damn. still an odd event. the paint was sold and then shredded moments afterwards. odd.

I can"t imagine $1.4 M trading hands and then it gets shredded. I guess that could happen, although it seems that sothebys might have been in on this one.

An auction has a buyer bidding on the painting, winning the bid. The final transaction takes place later on. This deal was dead in the water after it was shredded.

There are several Banksy pieces that were graffiti on exterior walls. The walls were cut and the art remained intact. I can see him wanting to keep his art “free” and on public display. I totally respect that. It’s 100% contrary to the current “gallery system”. Banksy is a constant middle finger and this stunt is probably somewhat in response to people putting his work in their homes ... or storage.

How do they get a hold of his work? Don't they buy it off of him?
How does one get a hold of this painting that fetches $1.4M, doesn't it exchange hands for a sum of cash?

My guess is, Banksy recreated the wall art onto canvas and “offered” it to the auction house for sale. And of course they would jump at the opportunity. I honestly do not know what the terms of the sale (including pre-sale notations by the artist) that went with this sale/stunt. Was everyone in on it? I doubt it. Typically, when work goes up for sale, the house will send a team including an appraiser to the proprietor/owner/artist to inspect the work(s) being offered. The owner/artist/whatever can just send items to the auction house and it can be inspected and appraised at the auction facility. It would seem obvious or apparent that the auction house would have a conservator unframe it for FULL inspection, but again, I do not know the specific terms of the sale/pre-sale.

It was an incredible stunt and the best Banksy prank yet.

Personally, I think the painting is worth much much more now that it was the star of the prank. Let it dangle in the frame in shreds. Everyone with an interest in art will know this painting. It is more culturally important now than when he sprayed it on the wall, which makes it more valuable as well.

True, I just heard that the shredded piece is now worth more. A few other artists started shredding their works only to find they might now be worth $5, looks like they got banksyed.
