THE GOOD: The Steelers snap a 3-game losing streak at Heinz Field with their 1st win there in 2018. The Steelers get a convincing win to move to 0.500 on the season (2-2-1). The Steelers continue to play well against the NFC. Big Ben was 19 of 29 for 250 Yards 3 TDs 1 INT James Conner rushed for 110 yards and 2 TDs on 21 carries James Conner had 4 receptions on 4 targets for 75 Yards AB had 6 receptions on 13 targets for 101 Yards and 2 TDs J2S2 had 4 receptions on 4 targets for 34 Yards and 1 TD Steelers offensive line didn't surrender a QB sack Steelers defense getting a TD (TJ Watt strip sack and LJ Fort TD) Steelers run defense Steelers defense getting 6 QB Sacks The Steelers never trailed in the game (and always had the lead when scoring started) The Steelers 2nd half adjustments Jordan Berry THE BAD: Big Ben's redzone INT Still tied with Cleveland in last place in AFCN Matt Ryan was 26 of 38 for 285 Yards 1 TD 0 INT THE UGLY: The Ravens win in Pittsburgh and then lose in Cleveland.
The Good: All the stuff you said above in the "good" section. The Bad: Ben still focusing on AB too much at expense of open people. The Ugly: Penalties - Undisciplined crap turning positives (sacks) into negatives (15 yard penalties) - those are HUGE mistakes to the tune of 25 yard result turnarounds.
The Good: I couldn’t believe it but the offense, defense, and special teams played a solid game. The Steelers looked better and I sincerely believe the running game made this possible. The offense HAS to stay on the field as long as possible in order to get the defense a breather! When Ben throws less than 30 passes and we score 41 is a great recipe for success! I honestly wrote them off this year, but I feel they looked good today and there could be a chance. The coaching staff is completely responsible for this team’s advancement because the talent is there! Taking down the Bengals next week would completely change my mind about being a real contender. The Bad: The Steelers need to make a conscious effort to get Vance McDonald the ball. His ceiling is too high and can destroy a defense. No Ugly: But, the Browns need a new kicker... Run the ball more and set up the play action! Throw the ball to AB when he is open! I feel like there is to much pressure to get him the ball! 6 receptions out of 13 attempts isn’t great. Tomlin has to get better control over the team and be intelligent at the same time. This I KNOW is asking for too much. The play calling on offense has to consider the overall team’s ability for success. I think they will recover! Love the Steelers always, JMac
GOOD Shout out to Coach Danny Smith and special teams. Boswell did his job. Rosey Nix gets a nod every game for a special play. Not every day you see a fullback block a punt. Also good coverage pinning the Falcons on the 2 late in the game on a punt. Mike Tomlin calling the flags "a joke" and taking a stand. I hope other coaches back his play. UGLY The Falcons aren't very good. I like the convincing win, but my enthusiasm is tempered. The Bengals game will unveil more.
The Browns are decent and will be in a lot of tight games! FIND a new kicker and quick! That dude scares me and I am not a Browns fan. JMac
Not much GB&U action today. Usually this thread is FAT by now. The Good: Offensive line JC AB showed up The ... can’t believe I’m saying this... defense Cleveland III beating Cleveland II (Cleveland I is dead and gone) The Bad: Boz... 5 weeks in a row Bungholes win again The Ugly: Last week’s loss to the Shitbirds (Cleveland II)
What’s the best remedy for a team that’s a hot mess? Answer - to play a team that is more of a hot mess. Atlanta had 5 starters out on D and their offense isn’t as good on the road vs when they are playing at home. As beloved SteelPumpkin75 mentioned I’m not too enthusiastic over that win either especially when u have your 14 year veteran QB missing throws in the 1st half than caping it off with that horrific throw just before halftime. Sorry to be negative but they’ve beaten 2 teams that will finish below .500 which I guess is a good thing since they usually play down to that kind of competition. They still have no wins in the AFC. Let’s see where they stand after Week 9, anything less than 3-0 in their next 3 games will not be enough.
After week 9 and 3 division wins in a row, our beloveds are in a much better place than they were after the Atlanta game.
