flyers season ends. they blew 2 2 goal leads in mere seconds. they had it and blew it. they were able to rebound after bad losse, but it was not enough and their season is over.

they need a huge off-season. their 3rd and 4th lines are terrible. part of their defense is awful and that's on the coach for sending down 2 rookie defensemen to the AHL constantly.

here is my summer wish list for the Flyers. they need to cut immediately: read, weal, Weiss, lehtera, flippula, manning, laughton, gudas, Elliot and or neuvirth. if they cut both goalies then go with lyons and stolarz for 18-19. then you have both carter hart and felix sandstorm in the ahl for 18-19 both battling it out for the starting job. if lyons and or stolarz suck and if hart or sanstrom are hot - call one up to the nhl and roll the dice with their development. goalie problems solved one way or another.

defense - ghost, prov, haag, morin and sanheim stay with the team all season. no ahl send downs. and call up myers as their #5.

salary cap amnesty andy McDonald. he can go laugh in his flyers paid mansion with bryz.

trade wayne Simmonds as he did nothing this playoff or spring. he's 30 and is not the force he once was. he disappears a lot too in key games or weekly games. trade him to any team that wants him.

if you can find a team to take on jake voracek's money - deal him. he is a turnover king and he, like, Simmonds vanishes in big games. After a big resurgence this year, teams may want him. trade him and get out of the money.

I heard John Tavares wants 7 yrs. that may be too much to take on, but at 27 yrs old, I would like to make a run at him. Same with Drew Doughty. I don't know who else is available this summer, but those are 2 on my list.

Coach - I doubt Hextall fires him after getting 98 pts, but the reality is he played very odd lines this playoff and benched Haag at times and put Konecny on the 3rd line. then he gave ice time vs the pens to weal, laughton, read and Weiss. shocking. I don't know who could coach this team as they are getting younger with more youth coming. I just know I don't know Hakstol as coach.

There it is. I doubt any of this happens as Hextall has no balls to do anything bold.

Simmonds played through a ton of injuries this year. Well that explains his decline and play on the ice.

 

and just how tough and good of a hockey player he is... a real gamer.

 

well it runs deep with his own teammates as Sean Couterier played with a torn MCL and Ivan Provorov had a joint 2 sprain.

hockey players are the toughest in all of sports. they get cut up and go back out there with fresh stitches and gauze up their noses.

hope oskar and others can replace the stiffs on the 4th line and really contribute this year ! gotta have the worst 4th line in the NHL.

somehow even with the cocaine charges, the flyers didn't cut lehtera and they said he may make the team. why i don't know. they cut martel, which i was mad about and weiss, which i was super happy about. they sent more guys down to the AHL too. just wanna see a new 4th line.

 

He's a career backup goalie, not bad. The leafs went with sparks because of his record in the ahl, not sure that was a good move.
Mcelhinney was really solid last year and they picked up pickard for insurance.

 

not sure why they need him with elliott, neuvirth, stolarz and lyons all signed. they just sent hart to the ahl, so even with the injuries to 2 of the goalies out of the 4, why another one ??

 

I think the leafs were hoping at least one of their goalies cleared. Now what happens if sparks flops? They need him to be solid for at least 15 games.

As for the flyers, they could easily release a goalie and have Pickard move up on the depth chart.

 

yeah i think they wanted to waive stolarz after 2 knee surgeries last year.

well he was in #2 place last year and wasn't even a Hart finalist. i think around 85-100.
