I think I am giving up the NFL. It is not something I care to watch any longer. Peace to you all but I am out.
I was trying to remember my password because I was going to post the same thing. This may be the worst coaching staff that any head coach has put together in Pittsburgh since before Chuck Knoll was hired. Is Tomlin making these decisions or is someone else pulling the strings?
I don't know. Yesterday was the 2nd full game I've watched (week 1 and week4) and I can't put my finger on what might be going on. The Steelers certainly have the talent to be dominant in virtually all position groups (with the lone exception of possibly the defensive secondary and even there, they're not that bad). None of us are privy to what goes on inside the locker room. Is it possible to have too much talent where individual egos get in the way of team success? They just don't appear to take the field with the same swagger they had in years past. I've seen flashes of that swagger on individual plays but not across the board for an entire game.
I disagree about the talent on the defense. This is not meant to troll, but the Steelers have been drafting "athletes" and not football players imo. Dupree, Burns, Edmunds (although it's really early in his career). Shazier was great, fantastic even, and he masked a lot of the problems with players around him. I do think Watt is a football player though, and a damned good one, he just can't be the only one. The Ravens made this same mistake many times, so I've seen it first hand. Breshard Perriman, Arthur Brown, potentially Tyus Bowser, etc.
U just said it beloved one, they have the talent. I think it was Blackngold that laid out the 1st and 2nd rounders all over the defense. Hence coaching Batch and I think Severn said it best on the post game radio show. “This team is broken” and they can’t figure out what it is - but it starts with the coaching. I feel like Ben receeded back to the Arain days holding the ball too long, etc. I’m starting to wonder if the offense misses Haley more than they do Bell
That's just it, AJ. I don't think you can point to a single player or coach and lay blame. Its almost like they know how much talent is there and just expect opposing teams to bow down in the presence of their greatness. In past years, they would take the field and smack the opposing team in the mouth. Now . . . it just appears they're trying to flog them with press clippings. I suppose that type of mindset goes to coaching, but . . . it appears to be more of a player's ego thing to me. That's just my opinion.
