ND, with a new QB and without their star dual RB/WR, wins over Stanford. Book gives them a better chance to win. Schedule looks tough with Va Tech this weekend and a tough Syracuse team lurking and USC in LA. PSU blew a big lead and gave it to OSU. Damn !

I agree, that's the task at hand... One thing is for certain, either the Tide or the Bulldogs will lose, because they will meet in the SEC Championship if they both keep winning. That is where the Irish have an advantage as an Independent, they don't have to worry about winning that "last big game against the #2 team in their conference." They take care of their schedule and they are in.
On another note...Clemson may have their best fight of the season with the surprise 5-0 NC State coming to town. After that, I would say Florida State would be the only team standing in their way of running the table, until they get to Miami in the Championship game, if Miami were to win, that could open another spot in the playoffs for an undefeated team.
