Report: Flyers forward Jori Lehterä a suspect in Finnish cocaine ring

According to the translation of that report, Lehterä has denied having committed a crime. Seven people are already in jail back in Finland and the translated report says police expect the investigation to expand and that police have also seized 650,000 Euro (roughly $762,000) worth of jewelry and valuables in connection with the case.

 

good so now they can finally cut his non-producing ass !

 

I think he's done, no way he makes the roster.

 

good - they have a plethora of prospects who can take his place.

 

30 years old coming off an 8 point season, now this.

He's on the last year of his deal, his cap hit is $4.7M.

 

good - tack it onto the $11 mil they have in the bank already.

 

3 options.

Keep him
Release him

Trade him to a team with a lot of cap space and include a pick in the deal. They could even take on half the salary for a 3rd rnd pick, only if the flyers need the space this season though.

 

I forgot option#4, he gets extradicted back to finland to face trial.

 

Option 4. Get a waiver for his contract not to count to the cap and then trade him to a rich team in place for a guy they want to dump (Leafs with Horton) or give them him and a pick for a lesser player.

 

Not sure what they want to do, going into the start of the season and $11M under the cap and this already includes Joris hit.

Looks like they'll stay put, doesn't look like they need the extra cap space.

 

It's not about the cap space. It's about if you are gonna have to pay someone then it might as well be someone that will skate.

 

True, but it would cost them a pick, and they have a lot of bottom six prospects on the farm.

 

It could cost less. But it could involve taking on a player with 2+ years left on their contract.

 

Yeah, there has to be some gain for the other team unless it's one of those you owe me in the future.

 

sadly not true bc i was all over hextall's ass to make more moves this summer. he said they are saving the money for next year to pay provorov and konecny. i think it's way too early to be thinking big money for konecny who only did anything near the end of the season and was Casper the Friendly Ghost in the middle of the season. Apparently Hextall won't spend till these guys are paid.

for Lehtera - i would cut him. im not taking on salary or trading picks to take this crumb off the team. he's worthless. cut his cocaine ass.

 

bottom 6 is a little harsh. they have so many prospects, not all are studs, but some of these guys aren't so bad. what team has only stud prospects and not some fillers? none of them. i think their 4th line should be all prospects this year. they played in the AHL enough. they're ready. anyone is better than weiss and lehtera. im not a big weal or laughton fan either. some nut on FB said Weal is so underrated and could be one of the Flyers top players. i laughed at him and said in what decade is he going back in the time machine to do it. he wasn't happy. he still thinks Weal is great. i think he sucks and is a stiff.

 

I just imagined someone "cutting" cocaine on his ass with a razor blade.
