Or that 75% of the teams are in the US.

It doesn't matter, any player that wears a visiting jersey in toronto vs the leafs is the enemy, marchand is the enemy.

So both countries have terrible fan bases that have booed the other. Of note none more often and with as much “passion” as the Montreal fan base. Worst fan base in sports.

Still unclear why a picture of the US flag has “the enemy” accompanying it.

I understand what your saying , skinny.

Sunday the Vikings play the Bills... if I were to represent who the enemy is, I would pick something that represents the Bills, not an entire Nation.

If you show a dead buffalo, you have hated on an entire nation of buffalos.

Not quite sure what a dead Buffalo would be doing at the game. Maybe a BBQ in the parking lot?

  8. skinny123 Guest

    Yeah, that would be cool.

Imagine being dressed up like a viking and dragging a dead carcass in front of bills fans, the outrage.

Anyway… im not going to be a dog chasing his tail in circles. I believe Matty and I have stated our trouble with the original post of the US flag that started this convo in a clear and precise manner.

Yeah, montreals fans are crazy and they aren't nice when the team is bad. I can't speak for them booing the american flag, many french people don't like ontario, so they would boo the ontario flag.

Uber-nationalism/patriotism is stupid. It places a representation as a “greatness”, where in actually, it’s nothing more than an avatar. Where interpretation gains creedence, you allow whack-a-doo the opportunity to be seen and heard. A league with international business should be considered “a league” or a collective. Each team contributes to the other in the league. If you want to boo country v country at an international stage (Olympics, etc.), fine. It’s still stupid though.

    In Canadian weather news...
A tornado touched down in Ottawa last night, furthering the “Melnyk touch” by sending the city further into absolute oblivion.

I don't get why they don't play the swedish or russian anthems while they're at it. I don't get why sports has the nationalist angle to begin with.
This exists in no other workplace, it's the only time we really hear anthems getting played.

When a friendly dog approaches wagging its tail, do we ask, is it canadian or american? No, we pet them both equally and give the the same treats.

This has to end. Tonight is a good time to start in buffalo. I propose a hassle free pedestrian crossing at all 3 bridges for leaf fans walking to the game.

Nationalism is a marketable, thus profitable idea. It also helps perpetuate the idea of going to war, whether it be combat or trade/finance, with or against another country, as reasonable or palatable. It’s a stupid idea sold to and bought by stupid people. Don’t get me wrong, I’m mostly happy being an American, but being a Canadian or an EU citizen would show just as many benefits, if not more... especially with Mango Unchained in the Oval Office.

It’s typical to have a sense of national pride, but uber-nationalism is flat out ridiculous.

I wouldn't be that proud if I knew someone died because they didn't have healthcare.

I would be proud of the way the constitution was written up and what it meant for the way the country should be run.
I wouldn't be too proud of those in charge and every decision they make. I'm against people using nationalism as a way to define your love for the country.
If you don't follow and obey your leaders, you don't love your country.
I love my country and that's why I don't follow the leaders, because I call bs.

Rasmus Dhalin will have a learning curve just like any other Dmans first year in the league.
He isn't physical, but has razzle dazzle with the puck. The same gambles he got away with in sweden will often times prove to be costly in the bigs.
Expect a 3 year learning curve, then it's anyones guess how far off he'll be from a karlsson.
Good luck sabres fans, and tread lightly, beware of your opponenents for they will gladly look to capitalize.
