Do you believe, as many others do, that Cleveland has the talent to win consistently? If so, Tyrod should have been a winner in weeks 1, 2, and first half of 3. He wasn't. So do you believe that Cleveland has that noteworthy talent, and thus that Tyrod is less than you claim him to be, or that Tyrod is exactly what you claim him to be, and that Cleveland just doesn't have enough talent to get the team wins?

They're a worst team. I don't think they necessarily upgraded where you said they did. Also chemistry is a thing. Their depth is shot too. I can get into it later if you want as this situation stuff I remember more from the offseason and I don't have time to get into it properly right now.

Yes I do, Tyrod Taylor has not performed for the Browns like he did for the Bills, throwing 2 INTs in his first two games, compared to 3 INTs in 15 games last year. I believe Tyrod knew what we all now know, Baker Mayfield is a better QB than he is and he was pressured to perform and couldn't. It happens to players all the time. It doesn't change what he did the last 3 years, which was play mediocre football and not lose football games.

Week two he played well enough to win...a fucking kicker missed (2) extra points and (2) FGs, that's why the team lost and he is no longer employed by the Browns
Week one, he did not play well at all. He looked like a pressured QB who didn't want to lose his job to the 23 year old.

Week 3, at 0-1-1, if he didn't get the team a win, he was losing his job and he crumbled under the pressure for sure. Baker came in and cemented what many of us already knew, he is the type of player that elevates the play of every one else on the team, offense and defense alike.

No, I really don't, I'm going on 3 1/2 hours of sleep and the euphoria of the win is wearing off. I just want to savor this for 10 days and see if we can't get some more fuel against the Raiders to continue it.

Irish, this just doesn't make sense, dude.

Tyrod is a pro. He's not going to suddenly buckle because he has a highly-drafted backup. He's in his 7th year. If you think he's a "mediocre QB who won't lose you the game", then he shouldn't be losing games, presuming Cleveland has the talent you say. You can't say "Baker scared him". That's like saying, "Josh Gordon wasn't around because of Hard Knocks" - it fits your narrative, and it's nice to say, but it doesn't have any support, and ultimately is meaningless.

I thought he was good enough not to lose, and the Browns had the talent they needed to win? So, this one is the team's fault, correct? I'm just saying, either Tyrod isn't what you say, or the team isn't what you say. Otherwise, Cleveland wouldn't have been a second half away from being 0-2-1.

  6. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

Well it's the only explanation I have. He isn't performing like he did in Buffalo, and yes, I think the Browns have more talent than Buffalo does. He has only lost one game in Cleveland out of 3 games and that one was because of a kicker that is no longer employed. So, what doesn't make sense? He's a .500 hitter and the Browns are .500 under his watch. I'm willing to bet Baker in 2019 and beyond will have the Browns consistently above .500. I'll concede 2018, because there is bound to be rookie days ahead.

Yes, you can pin it on the "team" if you want a concise, team vs. Tyrod and in that situation the Kicker would be the "team".. What the fuck do you want from me??

The Browns have lost exactly one game out of three where Tyrod started and that one game they lost by 3 points, with the kicker missing kicks totaling 8 points. What the fuck don't you understand? You are just trying to make an argument out of nothing here. Tyrod, even in Cleveland, is doing what I said... But with Mayfield on the team, we don't need mediocre any longer.

I blame the first game of the 15-yard penalty in overtime but that's me. Cleveland does have better Talent this year. Heck if they won their first three games I would have probably had them in the playoffs right now. That being said I still have them a year away from really contending. Everything is trending positively as expected.

The Browns should trade Taylor. I’m sure someone will give a third for him.

  9. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

I'm not sure about a third, Cleveland was the only one offering a third last year supposedly, remember he is a free agent at year end. Now, if it came with a 2 year extension, then a solid third would be in order.

edit: If a starter goes down though, that's exactly what I expect the Browns to do before trade deadline...

Stupid voice recognition. I edited it in my first sentence above.

Or it could be that you're wrong. If it's that or making up some crazy excuse... well...

AxeMurderer originally asked the question as to why anyone thought Tyrod was anything more than he is - why people thought he was "underrated". You responded that he's a mediocre QB, good enough for a good team to win with him, since he doesn't lose games.

So, if Cleveland is indeed a good team, then the reason Cleveland has only won 1 of 3 games so far is either because, as you said, he's scared of Mayfield, or your (and others') evaluation of him was wrong.

That's all - we've gotten rid of the vague answers and assertions, and narrowed down the potential answers to Axe's question.

By this poor excuse of an argument, the Patriots, Packers, Saints, Chargers and a few others would never lose a game...even to each other. What kind of logic are you attempting to put in play here?

  15. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

    What??

Alright, we're good. I got my answer from you. Where you go with the logic is one thing. Where everyone else goes is another.

I'm honestly convinced you have a massive comprehension problem...because if this is what you gathered from the conversation.....wow.

  17. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

You are saying, well either the Browns lost because the team doesn't have the talent to win, or the Browns lost because Tyrod Taylor isn't what I am saying he is...which is it? How else do you want me to take your "take" on the subject?

You simply try to twist words into an argument, where there really isn't an argument. It's what you do... I just keep falling into the trap because you address me. If I ignore you, you will move on to someone else.

It is nice to see some positive attention for the Browns all over the place. The front page on NFL.com is mostly about the Browns win... it was a thing to see and a big deal.

Depth at QB is extremely important these days and Cleveland has 3 that can run a football team... although not all are on the same level of course, but its depth in a League where even star players are getting taken out.

Last night Troy Aikman was pretty harsh on Tyrod, even said he was "lolly-gaging", he really said nothing good about him at all, which, in my opinion was, un-professional.

These days the NFL is a 'what have you done for me lately' kinda League... too me it doesn't really matter what Tyrod did or stood for with Buffalo, he clearly didn't have it last night and now he's injured. Hue does have an option tho to figure out during practice this week as to who will start next. PFT even thinks and says it will be Mayfield (that's their opinion).

Im happy for the Browns and that's the bottom line for me. Loved the play by the defense and especially Danzel Ward.

PS - id go with Mayfield next game.

I've spent a lot of time trying to get your reality and actual reality to mesh. I don't know how to do it.

You said that Tyrod Taylor is good enough to not lose you games, providing the team around him can win. You said that Cleveland is good enough to win. Cleveland didn't win. Is it Taylor's fault, or Cleveland's? Either way, you got something wrong, because that doesn't make sense.

This is my last shot. Your reality isn't reality. Hopefully this works.

Edit: Sorry for derailing the general thread. Not my intention.

Tyrod is a top 15 QB...until he has Baker Mayfield sitting behind him on the depth chart.

Because.....that's just how it goes, apparently.
