Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon will not play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints because of a hamstring injury. Teammates Seth DeValve and Christian Kirksey also won't play.

It's being reported that the Browns are looking to deal him immediately.

  6. TopDawg Legend

    They are cutting him

That's not been decided yet. If they can get something out of him they are going to trade him.

If not, he gets the chop.

The only thing definitive is that he will no longer be playing for Cleveland.

All reports I've read said he's cut...They just have to wait till Monday for some reason to make it official...

The reports have changed, apparently they are getting phone calls so they don't have to bid on his services...these teams better rethink this. The Browns should get what they can tonight before they all change their minds.

Evidently he hurt the hamstring doing some promotional thing. I've seen the original report about his arrival this morning. I'm sure once he is officially not a Brown more will come out.

It's a good thing he avoided Hard Knocks filming to get his head right.

I defended the move, and I'm here to say "I'm an idiot". Gordon's immense talent clouded not just my vision, but that of interim HC Hue Jackson.

This all but assures us we will have a new HC, probably before the season ends, and maybe within a couple of weeks. The "special treatment" was clearly the completely wrong way to go. Gordon was never made to earn anything. Just show up looking like Adonis, and Hue starts giggling with anticipation. I gotta believe our faith or hope in Gordon impacted our trades and our draft, all for the "shinny object" that was Josh.

A damn shame for Josh, and for the team, and for all of us fans who once again dared to hope this season would be different.

    Crap!

Strategically, Gordon being gone diminishes Landry. Without Gordon sucking up safety attention, Landry will find the windows closing. Man, this just sucks. Big time, or more presidentially "Biggly".

My hope is Callaway steps up and Higgins emerges as a reliable option. Hollywood has shown signs of being able to be a player.

I have to say though, this is a big blow... I too have defended Gordon, it's just a big disappointment and shows how ugly addiction is. Gordon's talent is what helps a team rise to the occasion on Sunday, but if he takes himself out of availability, then it doesn't help on the football field. Honestly, I just hope this will be a trigger in his life off the field that will get him turned around. I will still root for Josh Gordon that he defeats his demons, even if I will root against him on the field. At the end of the day, he's a human being and his struggles are real.

More than ever this season, we need someone that is capable of raising the game play of everyone around them. It's Tyrod Taylor's job to do just that. I want to see it more than ever today. If it doesn't happen..if it is just another day in the office and he plays the position timidly, then for me, it's his job lost and I will be looking for Baker to make his debut next week. I SINCERELY am rooting for the former and hope that all that leadership we were hearing about in training camp shines through and he shows that is the player he wants to be on the field. Tyrod Taylor needs to take this offense on his shoulders and will every player to excellence. Another hope is that Josh Gordon's example, or more accurately, John Dorsey's example that if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem has a resounding effect on Antonio Callaway.

We're logically assuming Gordan's impending release is related to his substance abuse because that's the straightest line to connect the dots. Virtually every one of you fuckers was absolutey giddy about Josh Gordon returning to the field after everything he, himself, had demonstrated. And I admit I too was happy to see #12 on the field but I'm on record that I never expected him to see the entire season.

Hue Jackson was just a part of the front office and coaching staff that did everything they could to support this guy's return to the NFL. And now that Gordan couldn't deliver for whatever reason that's Hue Jackson's fault?

Only in Cleveland would a fan base use a player's demons to spew more hate towards the Head Coach !!!

You don't think Hue deserves some criticism for the way he handled Gordon Lym?

Absolutely not. Hue was obviously marching in step with the company drum beat. Every one in this organization has done everything in their power to disspell the "disfunctional" label and Hue is no exception.

Hue Jackson has amassed a resume of poor decision making, and finger pointing. Gordon's failure is a disaster, not of his making, but one that likely costs this team wins, and wins are Hue's only chance to keep his job. I am simply following the bread crumbs that Dorsey has laid down. He has clearly taken control, and I'm sure part of his plan is to choose his own HC. He may in fact already have that guy in the staff now.

Many of us have speculated that Hue needed to put up wins early. Does anyone think we're winning this weekend? Dorsey has cut loose Coleman, Kendricks, and Gordon. He is sending a message, and yeah, I think some of it was directed at Callaway, but also to "all" Browns personnel, Hue included.

You are correct, in so far as I was reacting to the loss of Gordon, who I feel for personally, but for this team it is a big blow, and Hue's handling of Gordon was "exceptional". Maybe it wouldn't have mattered how he handled it, but it's impact on the team could be devastating, and obviously he could have acted on the situation when Gordon announced he was going to miss training camp.

I will hope we win this week as always. I will hope we beat the Jets next week, but if we don't I won't be surprised to see a new HC, and a rookie QB on the field, thereafter.

As for the reason for Gordon's release.... I actually believe Dorsey when he says it's a matter of trust, not necessarily a direct result of "using".
