Baltimore's leading rusher from its season-opening demolition of the Bills won't return to the field for some time.

The Ravens placed running back Kenneth Dixon on injured reserve with a knee injury.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported earlier Wednesday that Dixon was expected to miss several weeks. Dixon can be designated to return from IR after Week 8.

In a corresponding move, Baltimore signed running back De'Lance Turner to the active roster.

Dixon paced the Ravens' ground attack against Buffalo with a game-high 44 rushing yards and a score. Baltimore's other tailbacks, Javorius Allen and Alex Collins, combined for 30 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.

Dixon's injury is an unfortunate setback for a promising player with terrible injury luck. The running back has missed 20 of a potential 33 regular-season games due to knee injuries or suspension. He sat out the entirety of the 2017 campaign.

At times on Sunday, Dixon looked like the Ravens' most explosive back, offering a tantalizing complement to Baltimore's remade receiving corps. Now the Ravens will have to regroup quickly with a clash with the division rival Cincinnati Bengals approaching on Thursday night. (NFL.com)

With all the talk about whether quarterback Aaron Rodgers will play on Sunday against the Vikings, another injured Packer has gone unnoticed.

Receiver Davante Adams has a shoulder injury, and it’s bad enough that he didn’t practice on Wednesday.

Adams had five catches for 88 yards and an extra-effort touchdown in Sunday night’s stirring win over the Bears.

The Packers will issue injury reports on Thursday and Friday in advance of Sunday’s NFC North showdown. (PFT)

    Leonard Fournette says he's a 'game-time decision'...

Leonard Fournette believes his status for Sunday's tilt versus the New England Patriots could come down to the wire

The Jacksonville Jaguars running back missed practices Wednesday and Thursday due to a hamstring injury.

"I started running on it today," Fournette told reporters Thursday, via ESPN's Jeff Darlington. "It feels good. So that's progress. We'll see. It's a game-time decision... I like my chances more and more as the day has gone on."

The team plans on testing Fournette's hamstring on Friday. Earlier in the week, coach Doug Marrone said he'd be comfortable playing Fournette even if the running back didn't practice.

Hamstring injuries are tricky, as they can be easily tweaked if not fully healed. If Fournette plays, he'd likely not see his normal workload, sharing duty with T.J. Yeldon. If the second-year back can't go, Yeldon and shifty Corey Grant would split work.

Fournette missed three games during his rookie season. The Jaguars went 3-0 without Fournette, averaging 31.7 points and 158.3 rushing yards per game without their bell-cow, per NFL Research. Blake Bortles had five passing touchdowns and no interceptions in those games.

The Jaguars face the New England Patriots in Jacksonville at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS. (NFL.com)

Oakland Raiders to convert WR Johnny Holton to Corner. I realize he can't catch a football, but 27 is kinda old to start a new position on the opposite side of the 'effing ball. Weird science in Oakland continues.

Bengals grab 34-23 win over Ravens behind three A.J. Green touchdowns...

Andy Dalton tossed four first half touchdowns – three to A.J. Green – in building a 28-7 first half advantage only to need to hold off a furious rally by the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.

Bengals safety Shawn Williams forced a fumble of Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco with just under three minutes to play. Dre Kirkpatrick recovered the loose ball and the Bengals added a 40-yard Randy Bullock field goal to put the game out of reach and earn a 34-23 victory.

After an opening three-and-out, the Bengals pushed the ball into the end zone on four straight possessions in building a 28-7 lead. Dalton connected with Green three times and added a fourth to Tyler Boyd in building the early advantage.

Dalton completed 24 of 42 passes for 265 yards and four touchdowns on the night. Joe Mixon had 84 rushing yards on 21 carries before being sidelined with a knee injury.

However, the Ravens would score a late first half touchdown on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Mark Andrews to close the deficit to 28-14 before the break.

A 55-yard Justin Tucker field goal and 21-yard touchdown pass from Flacco to John Brown drew the Ravens within five, 28-23, with just under 10 minutes remaining. But that would be as close as the Ravens would get. Bullock converted a 28-yard field goal to make it an eight-point game and the 40-yard kick after Flacco’s fumble sealed the deal.

Flacco was intercepted twice and lost the fumble late to account for all three Ravens turnovers. He finished with 365 yards and two touchdowns with 31 completions on 54 attempts. The Bengals held the Ravens to just 66 rushing yards on the night. Baltimore also turned the ball over on downs twice in Cincinnati territory on the night. (PFT)

Mychal Kendricks situation under review by the NFL...

Even though linebacker Mychal Kendricks currently can practice with and play for his new team, the player’s status with the Seahawks is subject to change.

Kendricks’ recent guilty plea to federal insider trading charges could eventually result in his suspension by the league.

“The matter is under review,” the NFL told PFT via email on Thursday night regarding Kendricks. “He is currently permitted to sign and participate in activites including games.”

As explained in the aftermath of Kendricks’ public admission to insider trading, the league can’t utilize the Commissioner Exempt list because his crime didn’t involve violence. Given the procedures of the Personal Conduct Policy, he’ll be able to continue to practice and play until the league imposes discipline, and until his appeal is fully resolved. That could, as a practical matter, take at least several weeks.

The Browns abruptly cut Kendricks on the same day he issued a statement acknowledging the misconduct, even though the Browns likewise acknowledged that they were aware generally of the situation when signing him. The Browns claimed that they didn’t realize that Kendricks was something other than a victim in a broader scheme to use inside information to turn a stock profit.

The Seahawks, undeterred by Kendricks’ uncertain status, have opted to sign him to a contract. They’ll have the benefit of his services until the league says otherwise. (PFT)

Report: Joe Mixon will have surgery Saturday, miss at least two weeks...

Bengals running back Joe Mixon will have arthroscopic knee surgery Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Mixon is expected to miss at least two weeks after the cleanup procedure.

The Bengals, who beat the Ravens on Thursday night, play Carolina next week and then Atlanta in Week Four.

Cincinnati will have Giovani Bernard and Tra Carson to take Mixon’s snaps until he returns, with Mark Walton also on the active roster and rookie Quinton Flowers on the practice squad.

Mixon twice left the game with the knee issue Thursday but finished with 21 carries for 84 yards and a catch for 3 yards. He played 39 of 76 offensive snaps. (PFT)

Showstopper said it was for another failed drug test, but I haven’t seen anything to confirm that. NFL.com said that he was fine Friday, but showed up for the weekly walk thru today complaining of a hamstring injury. The failed test would make sense, after all the patience they have had with him, I would hope they’d cut him if there was another failed test.

Well they'd have done it now if not for the fact they need to wait for him to be healthy. So day after the game it is.

I did see an article that said he might not be released but they want to trade him. If that’s the case they shouldn’t have put out a statement saying his career with the Browns is over.

That's exactly why they put it out now. They wanted to create a trade market.
