Still bad but not as bad as the first still picture made it look.

I came to post the vid and you got way better shots.

The defender is closing fast, but he also hesitated on pulling the trigger I think.

I wish it was and when I saw it I thought so too. It was posted by a writer for The Athletic. Not some BS poster. It was challenged in replies and the writer said to check the tape. I did and even though the all 22 doesn’t come out till tomorrow you can see it from the TV angle.

I don’t know why but this game has made me question Trubisky more than anything last season. Maybe it was the hype maybe I’m just done making excuses. BWW is right. He can sling it at times but he is fun shy. Hopefully Nagy can beat that out of him.

He doesn't look off his first read fast enough. By the time he saw what he had it was too late.

  8. vvarder Franchise Player Bears

That’s fair, given the first read wasn’t burton that makes sense.

Packers DB thinks it would’ve been a pick 6 had he thrown

If he saw it as soon as he turns after the play action...it's a touchdown.

But otherwise....I agree with King....that's either gonna be broken up or intercepted.

By the looks of it Cohen is his first read and it's where he should have went immediately.

Cohen may have had a shot at hitting the corner there.

Matthews gets in the way pretty quickly and he’s got a bit of reach which is why I think he looked off Cohen. The second angle in the last one shows the small window he has from seeing Burton to trying to wind up and throw, not sure it’s picked if he leads him right but probably broken up at best.

I don't buy that a good throw there goes for an incompletion. I've watched the clip in full speed couple times - the defender to the right isn't coming back to the ball, and has to go around the receiver in front of him. Burton isn't running full speed - he sits down in that hole ASAP. The whole point of a guy like Burton is to throw him balls in the endzone like that - even if he has to go up for it, that's his role.

No excuse. Trubisky needs a lot of work, and Nagy is going to have to get him there.

I haven't had a chance to look at the whole game on All-22 yet but I'm going to tonight.

Based on everything I've seen Mitch struggled anytime his first read wasn't open.

This is correct, and dovetails into his propensity to immediately leave the pocket and start scrambling.

When he scrambled in the first half it looked like he had a purpose and it was mostly working.

His second half scrambles were the "oh shit" kind and led to nothing but incomplete passes.

    Incredible.

I mean i know things can look bad on replay/take a screenshot or something, but thats the kinda shit that shakes you to your core. A pro QB has gotta pull the trigger on that and complete that pass, it really is that simple.

King would be the guy on the left i take it. The guy who's 5-6yards behind the play cos he got smoked on the route? Yeah he's talking shit cos he got beat. Nice try tho King

I think he still has time.

Yes he did look to Cohen first, and that did make him a fraction late on Burton. But ive watched that like 10times on the loop and Trubisky has a full beat. He even starts to cock before bailing out. The window is shrinking, i agree. It wouldn't have been nearly as easy it looks when people are freeze framing it, but that throw is totally on.

He would've had to drive it sure, but you just showed him throwing a strike and into a tighter window. He can make that throw.

What we have here is 3 things. 1- A shoulda-been TD. 2- A QB who doesn't yet trust himself. Which is prob partly a product of 3- A game that is still moving too fast for him currently. He needs to sort it out, cos you can't keep leaving plays like this on the field.

The question becomes now....can Nagy fix the issue?

Can he coach Trubisky and help him where he is deficient.

The thing about a QB reading and going through his progressions is it's so hard to practice that. Practice is practice...it's not a real game. Nothing can simulate playing against a defense that wants to hurt you.

So can Nagy take what happened Sunday night and turn it into something that can progress Trubisky and correct the things going wrong?

    Yeah i agree about Matthews.

But the second angle you mention, if thats the elevated one at about a 3quarter angle, i think it foreshortens things a little. King looks closer than he is. I think that throw was on.

  19. BearsWillWin Drunk (Probably) Patreon Champion Manager Bears Blackhawks Cubs

I think it's Dix coming behind Burton...

I don't disagree with you here but I think Trubisky missed the window where he was comfortable making the throw. Could it have been a touchdown still? Yeah. But the chance it gets broken up or picked is real there too....because Mitch was late to see it.

He definitely CAN make that throw. But I also don't want another QB that falls in love with those types of throws. We had that guy once....it didn't work out well.

I agree dline. And like you say, the window was maintained ever so slightly by the shielding move Robinson made. That was very good play on his part btw. Smart.
