I don't think Nico is healthy and they couldn't justify holding a roster spot for him. My guess is he will be on the speed dial when his knee gets back to playing shape. I don't think they wanted to lose him for the entire year by placing him on IR so they are hoping no one goes after him is my thoughts.

Carl Davis, Darren Waller, Cameron Lee, De'Lance Turner, Andre Levrone, Josh Woodrum, Gus Edwards, Chris Ezeala, Myles Humphrey, Bronson Kaufusi, Vince Mayle, Maurice Shakir, and Mark Thompson were the other final cuts.

I am surprised to see Kaufusi on this list along with Carl Davis. Seiler's impressive pre-season likely sealed Carl's demise though.

I think he hasn'tplayed himself back to where he was last year before the injury. They probably don't want to IR him again and certainly not IRDR. I have a feelinghe'll slip through waivers and the Ravens can sign hi to the PS if they so desire.

So they found a way to keep Vedvick:

"Undrafted rookie kicker/punter Kaare Vedvik suffered head injuries over the weekend and the Ravens are "monitoring the situation." For now, the talented Norwegian kicker has been placed on injured reserve. Vedvik was widely seen as a player who would interest other teams, either via trade or after being released."

No, he was assaulted and robbed sustaining head injuries and had his teeth knocked out last night according to yahoo sports reporting. he is at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center..... What a tragic situation because I think the Ravens were about to trade him to another team and get a pick for him at least.

Oh man. I had no idea. I hope he's ok.

I'm surprised the Ravens released Davis and Kafusi, but part of me wonders if this is a peril of keeping RG3. My thought though is that we are going to see a lot of Jackson packages because of this. If you have only Jackson as a backup, then maybe you're scared to put him in the game a lot for fear of getting injured. All bets are off now though.

As expected, Grant was the best return man. Elumenor was bad, but then again, so was Williams who I thought kind of stunk it up in game 1. If there is a veteran addition to the team, those 2 have to be on the chopping block.

Oh, and as most everyone expected, Perriman is gone. Thankfully now we only have to talk about him when discussing the biggest draft busts in Ravens history.

Perriman is the ONLY Ravens first round draft pick to be let go BEFORE his rookie contract was up. There isn't much argument for worst Ravens draft pick of all time. I hope Lasley actually improves, but the Ravens don't do well with improving offensive skill positions.

Sad to read about the kicker/punter. That had to be a scary moment for him.

Ravens have 12 rookies and 31 players with less than 3 years of experience, from what I've read. Talk about youth movement

  9. He was found in 2000 block of Boone, St. in the North side of the city. Not a safe area. Makes you wonder a bit. Also, even as a kicker the guy isn't built more like Julio Jones. Must've been some real bad dude...or dudes.

That's terrible news. I went to 4 training camps and he was there to sign autographs with the kids every time with a smile on his face.

  10. In terms of the final cuts, I really had the Ravens keeping Perriman (never had cut a 1st rd pick before his rookie deal was over), Siragusa, McClellan, Tim White and Kafusi and dropping Elumenor, Wormley, Chris Board (for McClellan), Janarion Grant (or stashed somehow), and Darious Williams.

II did call them keeping RG3 (small consolation), but I don't think ever think I'll predict their 53 man roster correctly.

  11. Thoughts on RG3:

If trade is a likelihood in his near future (and why wouldn't they consider it), there are at least 10 teams that could still use a back up/starter QB. His million dollar salary is a pittance for any team and offsets dead money losses for any team with a bloated QB contract.

Jaguars - Bortles is good but prone to inconsistent streaks. He's backed up by Cody Kessler. RG can captain that ship easily if Bortles goes down/benched. Likelihood: fair. It's not a critical move for JAX but a smart one and Bortles has shown he can be hurt.

Dolphins - Tannahill wasn't drafted by their current FO and is not safe despite his extension. Trading for RG could save them boat loads by dumping Tannehill who hasn't lived up to his contract. His back ups are Osweiler and Fales.
Likelihood: fair to high. RG is probably better than them all and if Tannahill puts in another ho-hum season or is injured again, he could be gone in 2019.

Bengals - Dalton is probably safe, but like Tannahill he's perennially tantalizingly shy of being a long term solution. Barkley was just put on IR and back up was won by default by a 6th rd pick, Jeff Driskel.
Likelihood: low. Ravens won't likely give trade a potential upgrade to a division rival. However for the right price anything could happen. Most think that RG is worth a 6th rd pick, but depending on trade partner need, starting caliber QBs are pretty valuable to desperate teams.

Giants - Eli is 37 and it seems that fans are calling for his head more and more each year. Davis Webb could be good in relief and Lauletta is still too raw. RG will add a dynamic feature to any team and looks improved and poised in the pocket.
Likelihood: fair. Manning is tough but not immune to injury, and his b/u's are still unproven. They could pony up more than most for RG.

Broncos - I'm a Keenum believer, but all QBs are one play away from IR. Lynch is not the answer. Maybe they feel Kelly is the future and Case is the perfect bridge? Hard to tell at this point, but dropping Lynch for RG makes sense.
Likelihood: low to fair. RG is not an Elway type of QB (didn't like Tebow despite winning) and that means he may roll with is roster as is. However he's fiscally shrewd and could suspense his bias for running QBs if he thinks RG is now more disciplined.

Steelers - Face it. Big Ben is considering retirement - HARD. Dobbs is not a long term answer but Rudolph could be the real deal as Ben's heir. If they wanted RG they'd have to trade Dobbs (which has already been rumored). However, they'd still have to keep 3 QBs this year.
Likelihood: none to low. Ravens would never trade a quality skill player to their biggest rival, but the logistics to make this happen makes virtually no sense.

Buccaneers: Winston is one move off field incident away from being out of the league. Ryan Griffin just got overtaken by Ryan Fitzpatrick. To say they need assurance of a long term solution is an understatement.
Likelihood: Good. If the Ravens are really apt to part with RG, then the Bucs present a good landing spot. Their QB sitch is pretty bad and they're in the NFC so they'll face RG about once every 4 seasons and Super Bowls which is one in a 100 million at this point. That would also prevent the Saints from getting him if they felt that was a possibility.

Chargers - Similar sitch. Rivers will 37 this year. Cardale and Geno are not nearly as accomplished as RG now were their preseasons eye-popping.
Likelihood: low to fair. Rivers hasn't yet slowed or become injury prone, but their b/u situation isn't promising.

Saints - Brees is ancient - 40 next year. He could last another season or so. It's unclear if they view Bridgewater as a long-term successor or merely a one-year, $6M insurance policy. Taysom Hill is looking like he's transitioning to special teams to keep a job.
Likelihood: low. It's not impossible, but Bridgewater is a quality back up for now and he's 3 years removed from that career threatening leg injury. If they are keeping 3 QBs with the possibility of replacing Brees in a season or so, RG would be a good candidate. And they're in the NFC.

    Last but not least...

Patriots - Brady is also ancient, and retirement rumor swirl around him like Big Ben. Every year now he gets closer to a career ending injury. Behind him now again is Brian Hoyer who the Pats drafted and cut and resigned. He's not a terrible option, but lacks RG's dynamism and upside.
Likelihood: low to fair. The Ravens have traded players to the Pats in the past, but their post season rivalry is one of the biggest. Under BB, RG could really take off and they just extended a frustratingly long New England dynasty. But Ozzie isn't really that petty. Is he?

    Outlier: Bears
Ravens traded with them in the past. They NFL. Trubisky looks like the future and Daniels has been solid in preseason this year. The Bears look like they're in "win now" mode, but not focused on building from within - in fact they've failed at it lately. Spending heavily on Khalil Mack won't preclude them from doing it again as they have the cap space. I think that RG is better than Daniels is right now and better insurance to earn wins if Trubisky misses any time. They could offer the low end of the scale if the Ravens don't get any other trade partners.

  12. The Bills received a 5th-round pick for McCarron and Raiders we're even on my list of possible trade partners. I think RG is as good if not better than AJ. Thoughts?

  13. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

You obviously have a much higher opinion of RGIII than me. I'll agree that, when healthy, he is a better QB than McCarron. However, his problem has always been staying healthy. I sincerely doubt that a team will give up a draft pick for the ability to place RGIII on IR.

But maybe he can make the designated to return list? That should be worth a seventh.

  15. True, but McCarron has had like 4 starts to RG's 40. McCarron has a collarbone issue this preseason. I wouldn't make lack of injury an attribute for McCarron just yet....and he's still a back up. But he set the market at a 5th. Ravens should get at least a 6th, 5th is possible too.

It also should be mentioned I'm not particularly a fan of his, but I've got to see him play up close this preseason and he looks as sharp as Flacco does now and is almost as athletic still as LJ. I'd say he's worth more than 5th, but I know most won't agree. But the first few weeks of the season will be interesting surrounding him.

  16. Carl Davis to Cleveland and Andrew Donnell to Detroit. Not happy about having to face Davis twice a year but that's the breaks I guess.

  18. Some good names there. Hope they stick around for a while in case needed.

  19. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

That's exactly my point. RGIII has only 40 starts (with 2 additional appearances). That's out of a possible 96 games leading up to this season. He has 2 whole seasons (2015 and 2017) where he couldn't even play!

I just think you're overvaluing his worth. That's all.

  20. I hear ya. Maybe you're right. If (IF) he get traded that will tell us all we need to know.
