I'm still mad that I missed getting to Nashville on our trip. The music alone would have been amazing (amongst other things). I learned a new appreciation for Bluegrass music by going to the 83rd Annual Bluegrass festival in Galax VA.

I've never been a straight up country music fan...especially pop country.

But the music on the fringes of country music and the music that inspired country...especially bluegrass...is really awesome. And it's all over this town...there's literally live music everywhere here and nothing beats live music.

I shared the Secret Sisters with a friend of mine and she sent me this ...

I can't believe that on several occasions I have been within a stone's throw of Nashville and those brutes wouldn't take me in.

Check out a guy named Johnny Dowd. He’s an older dude (60s - maybe 70, I think) and a former truck driver. Saw him at the Ballard Firehouse in Seattle (98/99). He’s a Johnny Cash type, and his songs are really good stories. The intro album you should hear is Pictures From Life’s Other Side. Check it out.

This goes to your comment about disliking pop-country @BearsWillWin ... what do you think of this?

That song makes me want to weep. I even tried some Tennessee whiskey when we were riding through that state. I almost died but I tried!!

Here's a song from Jason Isbell whom I would term Alt Country, and about something that many of us that are married or in love one day will face.
When he says "maybe time running out is a gift" Enjoy each other while you have the time because it wouldn't be special otherwise.

No question about that tuna. If you remember from that thread I stated pretty clearly that I do not, will not and cannot eat Haggis. It's SO gross.

I've added this artist to my playlist tuna. What a beautiful song and voices ... the melodies are absolutely lovely. That's such a touching line, "maybe time running out is a gift". The words go straight to your heart and are so poignant. Thank you for this ...
