Three games off Mariners' pace, need to go 27-6 the rest of the way, doubt it happens. Hope it doesn't, honestly...winning 117 and getting knocked out in the Division round would be so embarassing.
wow when u say it like that and needing to go 27-6, that is pretty damn hard and incredible the mariners won that many games in the first place.
Exactly...they've been playing almost .700 ball all year, and they'll need to go almost .800 the rest of the way just to tie the record, over .800 to break it. Without Sale for most of it and with the bullpen pretty much a raging dumpster fire since the A-S break.
If Sale can be Sale and Price can be the Price of the last few weeks in October maybe, but even with the gaudy record I haven't really believed this is a team that can beat Houston or Cleveland in the playoffs at all all year. There isn't anyone in this bullpen I would feel good about in a playoff game. Not even Kimbrel given the shitty way he's been throwing lately and the way he puked on his shoes against the Astros last year.
Astros had a lot of magic last year. now key guys are hurt. don't know if they can recapture the magic again.
^^as great as a top pitching staff is or awesome hitters, unless your the 84 tigers who kicked everyone's asses, it seems like winning the WS and other playoff rounds takes a little luck and magic. sometimes a team doesn't deserve to win a game and a fluke piece of luck happens or an error etc and they win. which team, on top of their staffs and hitters will have the magic this year ??
the big off-season of 2018 looks to be a 2 man race for employment for machado and harper. unless kershaw joins them, it's been a dud for all of the other FA's. no one else is making a push to be a sought after FA.
Report: Astros kicked out a fan protesting Roberto Osuna with sign displaying domestic violence hotline number... Steve Campion of ABC13 reports that the Astros kicked out a fan protesting reliever Roberto Osuna with a sign displaying the phone number of the Houston Area Women’s Center domestic violence hotline. The sign simply read, “Houston Domestic Violence Hot Line and then displayed the number... The fan, Kevin Jukkola, said he has held the sign up at several other games, but security asked him to turn it over during Saturday’s game against the Angels and he was then kicked out of Minute Maid Park. Jukkola said, “Some people were not happy about it. Some people were supportive. But either way, there was never an usher called. No security was ever called. Nothing ever happened until Saturday night. I want them to allow me to peacefully protest and not to be removed from the ballpark.” Osuna was arrested on May 8 by Toronto police and charged with assaulting a woman. He accepted a 75-game suspension from Major League Baseball on June 22. Osuna is scheduled to appear in court in Toronto on Wednesday. Various members of the Astros, including GM Jeff Luhnow, have clumsily attempted to justify the club’s acquisition of Osuna from the Blue Jays on July 30. Osuna himself didn’t speak on the matter until recently, proclaiming his innocence. He said, “No one knows what happened but obviously me. … I’m just waiting for everything to come out so people can really wait to see what happened.” While the Astros have the right to remove a fan for whatever reason they see fit, it’s not a good look as it makes the organization look defensive and like they’re attempting to silence peaceful protest. Ryan Meier, an Astros fan who witnessed Jukkola’s removal said, “Domestic violence is a serious issue. I think the sign should be irrelevant in the ballpark because the Astros should already have one instead of us needing to bring one.” (NBC Hardball Talk)
