I'll throw one out there (two-parter): In The Warriors, 9 members from each gang were invited to the meeting led by Cyrus. 1) How many members of the Warriors made it back? 2) Bonus: who were the member(s) who didn't?
Lessee...the leader got taken out at the meeting after Cyrus was shot, one got run over by a subway train fighting with a cop, and one got arrested for coming on to an undercover cop (that scene always bugged me)...I think the rest made it back, so I'll go with 6.
CORRECT! Great job. Cleon was the one taken out after being accused by Rogue leader; Fox was killed by the train after battling the cop; Ajax was busted by the undercover female cop. Swan, Cochise, Snow, Cowboy, Vermin, and Rembrandt (+ Mercy) made it back.
The undercover cop was Mercedes Ruehl, who was in The Fisher King, and who was sensational in the underappreciated Lost in Yonkers. Other cameos: Sonny Landham (48 Hours, Predator) was the cop in the subway whom Swan took out by throwing a baseball bat at his knees Debra Winger was one of the young girls on the subway coming home from a dance/prom
i saw top gun 1, so why not ? tom cruise, val kilmer and miles tenner are still acting. it's a new movie. warriors came out when i was in the third grade. can it really hold up now?
Ruehl won an Oscar for the Fisher King. She is also the Mom of a young boy who grows up to be an adult Tom Hanks in BIG.
If Top Gun holds up as an 80's action movie, then The Warriors certainly holds up as a 70's action movie. If you like Walter Hill films (I assume you must given your excellent recall of Streets of Fire lol), you'll like it. Plus, you'll walk around saying "Can you dig it?" for days on end, so that's a bonus...
If you recognize that it's a bit campy and was made in a New York that really no longer exists, sure. It can't be any sillier than the original Top Gun!
Had my wife watch it for the first time the other night. We're sitting bed, and when Cyrus utters the line, I spread my arms wide and bellowed "CAN YOU DIG IT?!" She just told me I was stupid, but hell that was awesome.
hey man - streets of fire had a 19 yr old diane lane in it. after the outsiders, anything she was in i was hooked like crack ! plus it had michael pare coming off another cult classic Eddie and the Cruisers, which i liked, besides the idiotic ending with Joe Pantoliano. Add some pop tunes and a retro turbulent city and Streets of Fire wasn't bad for 1983.
I showed The Warriors to my gf and she loved it. Cheesy? Yes. Dated? Yes. Fucking Awesome? Absolutely! She thought Top Gun was one of the worst movies she’s ever seen, and this includes the epic film catastrophe, The Room (a life-changing experience from the brilliant mind of Tommy Wiseau). You’ll laugh harder than you ever have and it wasn’t meant to be a comedy. A movie so bad, they made another movie ABOUT it.
Our group of friends (5 couples) does movie night once every two months or so, and I watched The Warriors to see if it was "worthy" of a viewing (I think yes - so far different couples have shown This is Spinal Tap, Midnight Run, The Birdcage, and A Fish Called Wanda). First time I had seen it DECADES, so to answer Cat - no, I don't think I'm "holding on too much"...! CAN...YOU...DIG IT?!?
I FINALLY saw the Warriors last night Axe and yes, Top Gun II is on my list. I left a full review of the Warriors on the LAST MOVIE I SAW LIST.
