Little optimism for 2018 season...........

I'm thinking if the Steelers don't improve on defense then #fireButler should be the new call of disgruntled Steelers fans.

I'm gonna miss FF a bit this season. I went 15-0 last year. No shit. It was a friendly work league. But then I told the boss to shove it last December and never saw them again. I didn't get paid. I'm still owed $90. Thanks, "pals".

I am curious about a money league. Perhaps my confidence is higher than it should be, but I never lost last year.
I would really welcome any advice/suggestions on a money league.

 

The defense has been slowly deteriorating since Cowhers players started to retire. The debacle of a defense we’ve been seeing the last 2 seasons or so was predicted years ago by multiple posters that don’t post on here anymore. This is Tomlin’s defense now.

 

I agree this is Tomlin's defense.

I'm not sure these players are just Tomlin's. I suspect Colbert has had a say in the defensive players they draft. Butler will ultimately be the fall guy when the communication issues continue to plague the secondary.

We are about to see what should be the starting defense take the field together against the Titans. Let's hope they are much better than many of us expect.

 

Matthew Thomas will help once he learns the defense...just watch

 

Everything I've read about him suggests you are correct. Freak of an athlete but has to learn the defense. Hopefully he picks it up quick because Bostic and Red look like crap. Vince Williams is athletically limited but they still gave him an extension.

I love it when a player who didn't get drafted becomes a star.

 

Its always great when it happens but how often does it happen?

 

Im of the mind that the Offense is going to have to score a lot of points. Best case scenario they score while eating up huge chunks of time limiting the amount of time the D is on the field.

 

It's very rare! That's what makes it all the more exciting when an undrafted player starts to show they could be the next Willie Parker or James Harrison.

 

We could be due for another one in addition to Parker and Harrison Donnie Shell and Jack Butler were undrafted. We also have two starting linemen that were undrafted in Foster and Villanueva. And to a lesser degree of sucess we had Legursky, and Nate Washington. Hopefully we can strike gold again.

 

I hope we strike gold with Thomas, because there isn’t any other decent ILBs on our roster.

Red is a lock, he’s a special teams demon, plays on every special team and I would kind of be surprised if he isn’t at least a special teams co-captain. And he is a competent backup. Thomas probably bumps Fort off the roster though...
