I cant argue, I just don't know what he knew or what he did. I do think what we do know is damning, but I still think there is no benefit of the doubt when it comes to Urban and maybe that doesn't even matter.

I am on record as stating... if he knew of abuse and did nothing, then F the guy, lol.

He has said, in a prepared statement, that he knew about the abuse, told a superior, and that he filled his responsibility as such. He said that he lied about the situation publicly prior only because he was "unprepared", if I remember right.

Will, it's not a matter of whether or not he knew and did nothing - he's admitting that. It's a matter of who Ohio State thinks they HAVE to fire to keep their image, and who they can keep. By Urban making the statement they did, they might be able to pin it on the AD, and leave Urban be. That's the tact they're taking - or, at the very least, Urban is. We'll see how it goes. Morals in college football aren't exactly the standard - we'll see how much they matter here.

If he followed procedure as laid out by title ix can you still fire him(Myer)? Should you still fire him?

If, several years ago, he told his AD, then never said a peep about it again, despite the fact that it was clear nothing had been done or changed, and then he publicly lied about it... There are a lot of things that aren't technically breaking the law that are still fucking wrong. And the only word we have that Urban even told his AD is his - Zach Smith said that Urban was informed by his AD, not the other way around. All we have is Urban working hard to throw someone else under the bus - we may likely never see whether it's true or not, but we will see whether it saves his ass or not.

Ohio State is supposedly undertaking an evaluation, but they put a hard deadline on it from the beginning. That usually doesn't mean "We're doing everything", it usually means "We're going to try to do just enough". I doubt we'll ever get the full story, and will have to live with whatever Ohio State decides. No doubt they'll do everything they can to keep Meyer. I think he stays, the AD or similar staff gets fired, and the Urban Meyer defenders pretend like that vindicates him, rather than remind themselves that he's a piece of garbage and admitted to it.

    Enough is enough.

Dline says he's a piece of garbage so that should prove everything.

    Just hang the motherfucker !!!

Yeah, you're right, Lyman - I'm not using Urban Meyer's own words to make the logical case as painted by he and everyone involved. I'm just a dumb ol' hater.

You weren't out there at that rally defending him, were you, by any chance?

The biggest problem with this kind of crap is there was never a plan how to deal with it. I’m 54 years old and in my lifetime you could have basically beat the fuck out of your wife and kids and everyone would turn a blind eye. It has gradually changed over time and now you can get into serious trouble if your spouse wants to press charges. Sweeping shit under the rug doesn’t get rid of the smell.
There in lies the problem in that many people grew up in a world where these things were ignored and everyone hoped it just went away. People who abuse other people usually don’t just turn over another leaf and quit. They have to be forced by a power higher than them to give them the persuasion they need.

    ***BREAKING***

Urban Meyer suspended for the first 3 football games...

  15. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

Raise your hand if you predicted they'd do everything they could to address the image and nothing else. Meyer's statement pointed to someone else other than himself being at fault. So, either that person should also be answering for their lack of action, or Urban lied again, and should punished more than he has been (which many would argue anyway).

Ohio State, from moment one, was always headed here. Putting Meyer on leave and giving their investigation a known timetable were solid steps to make the eventual plan come to fruition.

What was their official statement? I find it odd that they found Meyer guilty of impropriety, just not more than three games' worth, considering the nature of what was being investigated. Would be interested to hear the crafted explanation.

    I
LYMAN- i was referring to what Will posted and not the report. i meant with only a 3 game suspension versus a longer one. just get it done and over with quickly to move on from it and put it in the past.
