Not taking anything away from the great one, he was part of an incredible team. They won that cup without him, coffey and fuhr. Messier will always be remembered for the '94 rags cup more than that '90 cup.

History will always tie in gretzky as the major reason for the dynasty. This is fair, but they were such a good team that they still could've won cups without the great one.

they won a Cup with Billy Ranford for Christ sakes. That alone is a small miracle.

i just watch the 2009 30 for 30 with Peter Berg and Wayne Gretzky. it was about the trade to the Kings. Berg asks him on a golf course if he stayed how many more Cups would he have won there. He said "4 MORE!" Now that seems a bit high. Coffey left the year before Gretzky did. Fuhr was gone. Could Billy Ranford win 4 more Cups let alone the one he did if Gretzky was there? That's a lot to ask. And the 1 thing Gretzky didn't talk about, which was already proven was Edmonton didn't have any great youth then. It was the same old guys, although great, as before. Could Gretzky, Messier, Lowe, Kurri, Anderson, etc win 4 more Cups into their early 30's without the aid of young and solid prospects? Tack on the emergence of Mario Lemiuex and Jaromir Jagr in Pittsburgh, Montreal in 93 and then the Red Wings dynasty teams? 4 more? I don't know about that.

Fuhr was injured that year, he only played 13 games. They could've won in '89, the year calgary won.

After that last cup win, messier, anderson, fuhr and maybe even more players left.

Would they have left if gretzky was still there?
Without messier and anderson, gretzky wouldn't have beat the pens. They essentially look like the kings.

i saw a Cup clinching game on the NHL Network last week and it was Andy Moog in goal. It was 1985 vs Philly i think. No idea where Fuhr was. Staying vs leaving is bigger than getting older, but yes, i highly doubt Gretzky without the others would be any top team. Was 1989 the infamous Steve Smith goal off the back of Fuhr's skate? there was still 10 min left in that game to tie it and then didn't. i actually thought that game was in 1986.

The smith goal was 1986, the habs won the cup that year.

Oilers always had two goalies rolling.

    Fuhr-Moog

    Fuhr-Ranford

Donato boots field goal, Bruins visit Patriots training camp
Forward, teammates were guests at New England practice...

Ryan Donato did his best Tuukka Rask imitation on the football field Tuesday.

The Boston Bruins forward booted a kick through the uprights while visiting New England Patriots training camp with his teammates in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Donato joined Rask as Bruins who have successfully made kicks at Patriots training camp. Whereas Rask used a tee last year, Donato had the help of Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy, who was the holder.

Matt Grzelcyk and Chris Wagner joined the other Bruins at Patriots camp, and they got the full VIP treatment. They spent time on the field and met with New England owner Robert Kraft, coach Bill Belichick and tight end Rob Gronkowski. (NFL.com)
