This isn't bad kick. It's bad decision making. His past is well documented.

Word got out on Sunday about the trade so I suspect it went down either late Saturday or early Sunday. Calloway was busted in the wee hours of Sunday morning in a suburb of Cleveland. You can bet your sweet ass the Browns found out before he was released by the Strongsville PD. (Strongsville and Berea are virtually right next to each other.)

So you're saying the Browns found out about Callaway before or after they signed on the dotted line to trade away Coleman?
Do you think it would've mattered either way, or was Coleman gone regardless of Callaway's presence?

I almost posted that story this morning. That lady is a heinous human being. I hope they charge and convict her of everything they possibly can.

I have no way of knowing exactly when the trade was consumated. But, I suspect the papers were signed by both clubs on late Saturday and filed with the NFL on Sunday.

I also suspect Coleman was gone regardless. Not a ton of dead money combined with even less production. But, and I emphasize the but, I have a hard time envisioning any team (even the Browns) trading away a WR with a WR corp already on thin ice knowing that one of the survivors would do this within 24 hours. In other words, I suspect Coleman would have been cut anyway if not traded.

Titans throw Kenny Vaccaro right into the first team...

Safety Kenny Vaccaro had a long wait on the free agent market before landing a job with the Titans last weekend, but things have sped up considerably from there.

Vaccaro was signed after incumbent Titans starter Johnathan Cyprien tore his ACL in practice and the team didn’t waste any time in getting Vaccaro into a spot alongside Kevin Byard with the first team. Vaccaro did individual work after signing Saturday, studied the playbook on Sunday and found himself running with the ones to kick off the week.

“I thought I was going to get kind of worked in a little bit,” Vaccaro said, via the Tennessean. “But I was glad I could go out there, set the tempo. Couple times, make some plays. … To be honest, I really wasn’t looking at it like first-team or second-team at all really. I was just trying to catch my rhythm. I haven’t really practiced with a team for like six months. So to come out here and really just run around, I’m just thankful.”

Vaccaro’s quick transition to his new role and new team is set to continue on Thursday night. The Titans will face the Packers and Vaccaro is expected to see playing time as he makes up for lost time. (PFT)

Buffalo researchers find brains of retired Bills, Sabres players are healthy...

New research from the University at Buffalo is calling into question the idea that contact sports lead to neurological damage that affects athletes later in life.

The research on retired players from the NFL’s Bills and NHL’s Sabres found that the former players were actually doing well mentally later in life, contrary to expectations.

“News coverage has given the public the impression that CTE is inevitable among professional contact sport athletes,” the researchers wrote, via the Buffalo News. “The results of our comprehensive investigation . . . do not support this notion.”

The former Bills and Sabres players were compared to a control group of similarly aged athletes from non-contact sports, such as swimmers, runners and triathletes. The researchers found that the non-contact athletes were in better physical condition than the retired football and hockey players, many of whom had suffered orthopedic injuries, but that there were no differences in brain function.

“Our noncontact sport control group turned out to be better educated and in much better health than our contact sport athletes,” the researchers wrote, “but we discovered they were not substantially different in most aspects of functioning, except physical activity.”

Barry S. Willer, a professor of psychiatry who was lead investigator on the study, concluded that CTE is “much more rare than we thought.” (PFT)

but CTE can only be tested post mortem. im w/ Frank, whos behind this study?

on a side note, i wonder if the swimmers, runners, and triathletes also never won.

What they are saying is that the CTE symptoms aren't there. Maybe it doesn't spread as badly as it does in the obvious cases. What they may be saying is that despite haviha a CTE looking brain, it may not get advanced enough or show symptoms during life.

LOAJOE - are they sure about that?? ex-Titan TE and fellow Archbishop Ryan High School graduate Frank Wycheck, who does radio broadcasts for the Titans, had to take a break last year from his job, because he felt the affects of CTE already. Frank is obviously still alive, so the tests to prove a player has it are done post mortem, but in Wycheck's case, he knows something is wrong with himself.

Strange that it’s a study of regional athletes. I wonder how random the Buffalo players chosen were, or moreover, were the study participants specifically chosen because there was a desired outcome.

What I'm saying is that all people that technically have CTE may not show the symptoms, or at least not at the point of their lives they were tested.
