^^so much for returning a kickoff for a TD? Players get hurt on kickoffs for the blindside hits to an unsuspecting player. Returning kickoffs is a huge part of the game for field advantage and when a player takes one to the house for a TD. What's next for the NCAA?
The NCAA is a joke to say the least. Their reasoning to do away with kickoffs (eventually) is ridiculous. Players can and do get hurt in any aspect of the game. Guess they want a 2-handed tap game or something.

https://247sports.com/Article/10-rule-changes-that-would-make-college-football-better-117486844 some good ideas here. the game is solid, but some tweaks never hurt.
https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...-buying-into-knights-national-champion-claim/ sorry but I'm still not buying UCF as National Champs. Sorry Knights.
I was looking at a pic of Johnny U and talking to a guy this morning of how football used to be. It was better years ago than it is now.
well - a different size of game when JU played. now these linemen are bigger and faster and 1 sack could have JU in a wheelchair now. hah.
***BREAKING*** Football coach Urban Meyer was placed on administrative leave Wednesday by Ohio State, a stunning twist to his wildly successful tenure amid allegations he was aware of multiple instances of domestic abuse involving one of his former assistant coaches. That assistant, former wide receivers coach Zach Smith, was accused of abuse by his ex-wife on several occasions, most recently in 2015. Meyer denied knowledge of that incident during an appearance at Big Ten Conference media days in July, though he said he was aware of a 2009 dispute between Smith and his ex-wife when he hired Smith in 2012. "The University is conducting an investigation into these allegations," said a statement form the school. "During the inquiry, Urban Meyer will be on paid administrative leave. ... We are focused on supporting our players and on getting to the truth as expeditiously as possible." Ryan Day, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, will serve as interim head coach during the investigation, the school said. Meyer also released a statement: "Gene (Smith, the AD) and I agree that being on leave during this inquiry will facilitate its completion. This allows the team to conduct training camp with minimal distraction. I eagerly look forward to the resolution of this matter." In a taped appearance for the web site Stadium, Smith’s ex-wife, Courtney Smith, said she had told Meyer’s wife, Shelley, and Lindsey Voltolini, the wife of Ohio State’s director of football operations, about her ex-husband’s abusive behavior. Among the correspondences between Smith and Shelley Meyer were photos showing bruises stemming from the 2015 incident. At Big Ten media days, Meyer said members of the Ohio State staff had looked into the 2015 allegations, and that “there’s nothing.” Meyer continued, “I don't know who creates a story like that." Yet a text-message exchange between Smith and Voltolini obtained by former ESPN reporter Brett McMurphy implied that Meyer was aware of the allegations. “He (Urban) doesn’t know what to think,” reads one text message sent by Voltolini. “I do believe he (Meyer) knew, but instead he chose to help the abuser and enable the abuser and believed whatever story Zach was telling everybody,” Smith said.
Wait, Urban Meyer is a piece of shit? No way! There is absolutely nothing in his history that indicates that. What a shocker!
Meyer has no one to blame but himself in this case. He's busted and even a bigger POS than given credit for. My love for the Buckeyes is insulted and not even anywhere strong enough for me to deny the facts here. I agree with, Gidion… he gets fired... and well deservedly so.
IF they are in fact...FACTS... I agree 100% Truth is, we don't know he knew. Was there a criminal investigation, was there actual charges brought, what exactly were the circumstances? All of that would be public knowledge and if it is the case, then Urban needs to be fired as well as any other administrative faculty that are still under employment from the time period. I personally don't know any of the FACTS here, other than some reports. I reserve the right to back track if there aren't actually facts here though. Telling Urban's wife is not the same as telling Urban. Although, if it is proven that they had a conversation, it would be enough for me to remove him from employment. SHE should have told him if she knew... She is an extension of him. Now, if Voltolini was the only one that actually had a conversation, then that is a different story.
I agree with your assessment. Im just having a tough time with the idea that 'all the wives knew' what was going on and Urban didn't know a thing outside of the 2009 incident. But, you are correct… we need facts, time lines and evidence. I threw him under the bus based on my anger that this is even happening and I may have prematurely jumped the gun and passed judgement, which is a mistake on my part. Ive always stood up for Meyer, I had his back, but this initially looks pretty damning and serious. Justice must prevail regardless of my feelings and fanhood. Im going to shut my trap, lol, stand back and observe while this thing unfolds. I just hope justice is served whether guilty or innocent of foul play by Meyer and that has yet to happen.
dawg - there were text messages to from the wives about what he knew on CBS yesterday. it looks like he knew, his wife knew, the other coaches wives knew and it was all brushed under the rug.
really? so 2 wives and one is the person claiming the abuse-the wr's coaches wife and the other is Urban Meyer's wife. you don't think she's telling the truth ? come on Lyman, i know you breathe Cleveland Browns football and no one can say a bad word about them to you. now you're going to sit there and defend Meyer to the tilt when he's already on suspended leave and could be dismissed from the school? the facts and proof are piling up. only a matter of time until it all comes out to the public. Meyer knew and covered it up. For him to say he knew of the 2009 assault and not the 2015 is going to be the nail in his coffin.
Are you alleging that the spousal abuse did not happen, and that the woman in question is lying? I would look twice at that limb before you go out on it, Lyman. Regarding Meyer's plausible deniability, if he's able to make a case for it (I ultimately don't believe he'll be able to, but let's address the hypothetical): Meyer's past incidents and reputation preclude him from the benefit of doubt. This is not a man who has displayed great quality of character or judgement in the past, and is now suffering an isolated incident. This wouldn't be much beyond par for the course, with Urban. As such, he had better make a concrete case as to why he didn't know about any of this. I don't think he'll be able to do that.
