Sean Newcomb loses no-hit bid against Dodgers with two outs in the ninth inning...

Logan Forsythe and Cody Bellinger flied out, but Chris Taylor broke up the no-hit bid with a well-struck single to left field past third baseman Johan Camargo. Manager Brian Snitker took Newcomb out of the game at that point, as the lefty had thrown 134 pitches. Dan Winker came in. Taylor took second base on defensive indifference, then scored on a Machado single, ending the shutout. Winkler got Matt Kemp to ground out to end the game.

Newcomb’s final line: 8 2/3 innings, one hit, one earned run, one walk, eight strikeouts. He got the win, improving to 10-5 with a 3.23 ERA.

trea turner and sean newcomb in trouble over old tweets that were very offensive. im sorry but im getting tired of this crap. much like josh hader of the brewers, these are old tweets. some from when they were in high school or college. hell if my company knew what i said in college, i wouldn't have a job. these are old tweets, so why is this news now? what they said was wrong, but to punish them now? sorry i don't feel that's right or fair. hader was not punished but i think was sent to classes? to me i would sue MLB for my right to free speech. i know there's a difference between speaking publicly and tweeting something. this should not be an issue. i don't know why or how people can go back several years to dig up this info on people. and why doesn't the person themselves just delete it of Twitter? I don't know. to me digging up this old crap is just not necessary. live in the now, not the past on Twitter.

 

Like I keep trying to tell my kids...if you think it's private, it's not. If you think it was deleted, it's not.

 

if they said it yesterday is one thing. the turner one was when he was in college i believe. i mean, if they wanna dig up everything on people then no one is safe. in my past i've looked at porn, used racial slurs, called people names, used profanity in calling people names, got called names, gave someone the middle finger etc. so now i gotta be raked over the coals ? so because these guys are pro athletes everything they do must be under the microscope and open for all to see? so now they can't post on Twitter or anything else unless it's PG rated?? Look, people do boneheaded things from time to time. we're human and imperfect. these people searching Twitter accounts for old posts are nothing but busybodies who have too much time on their hands.

Good pickup for a couple of low ceiling bullpen arm prospects. No more Nunez at 2nd and they can platoon him and Holt at 3rd til Devers gets back now.

Sox reportedly almost had a deal to get Kelvin Herrera from the Nats but then WAS backed out.

disappointed in the lack of moves by the phillies. alot of talk from their gm on how they liked and they didn't get anyone they talked about. i think the braves pass them for the division very soon.
