Dallas (above), Miami, Buffalo (without Tyrod), New York (Jets), and Houston (pre-Watson)... these teams all have had as bad or worse QB rooms as Cleveland, yet somehow we're the "QB graveyard" or "where QBs go to die".
Yes, Baker Mayfield is awesome, but..... Denzel Ward, a press-cover cornerback, was playing six yards off when this play began. Looks like Greggggg Williams hasn't changed.
Yeah, they are slow because of it...however, now that they are in Ohio, they are starting to get up to speed. It took Haslem a couple of years to shake all the bad he learned.
I do believe it was Sashi's "Fault" for 1-31. The purge that this organization went through was part of the plan and he implemented it. He did what a traditional GM would never do. I think he had complete power over the moves made within personnel. I do think he had input on the draft choices, but when it came to trading said draft picks, I don't think anyone else had a vote. Again, 1-31 was Sashi's "fault" in my opinion. Fault is in the eye of the beholder though. It needed to be done and with the plan they had in place, he did his job to perfection. He purged this team of heavy contracts (and veterans in the process) and gave the person chosen to build the roster more assets than even a expansion team is allotted. We will one day look back and thank Sashi for his contribution to this team. 1-31 was a freaking nightmare, but the fruit of that labor is about to be unleashed over the next several seasons.
or...in the first three days (no pads allowed), he is avoiding as much contact as necessary to keep everyone healthy. I'm not saying he has changed, but different circumstances call for different exercises in practice. When playing press, you really want to jamb that receiver...not only that, but this was only one play. We also don't know that it wasn't an isolated coverage. We need someone covering the training camp from the inside, instead of making assumptions based on a few plays being let out on Twitter.
Now, on that play, I saw two things: 1. Denzel Ward had some pretty amazing recovery speed when he turned his hips. Callaway is a speedster.. 2. You said it above, that throw was perfection and Callaway played it to perfection. Callaway was able to sprint straight line, only to make his slight adjustment last minute away from the defender, giving him absolutely no opportunity to make a play. If these two stay in sync, it might be a fun preseason to watch.
For the most part, that's the majority of whatever "football news" that's available at this time of year which is then repeated ad nauseam by just about every outlet. Mary K? I see you over there...........
I think ID's was a fair assessment. The team was bad by design. Everyone agrees. Even though the plan was stuck to, it was harder to deal with than everyone thought which ultimately led to his sacking. At the end of the day, regardless of how awful Hue managed the roster, QBs, and the games, the record is what it was and someone had to go. I think Sashi was going to end up going anyway, I just thought he would make it through another year. Im pretty sure Jim Bob and Dee (sounds like a country radio morning show) had someone in their ear telling them how good they were already sitting. Regardless, the team has talent across the board. Probably one of the best QB rooms in the league. The grand canyon of cap space. They even managed to lure a pretty good OC from a rival all while getting not just a "football guy" but getting someone who has demonstrated the ability to turn a team around. All in all they're all win's and it is going to be a fun year.
The Steelers are the best run franchise in any sports in the USA. I expected the owner and GM who both came from the Steelers to come out running the Browns better than before, but they got worse. They need to get Art II on the phone and get some advice.
Gid, get your shit straight, son. John Dorsey was NEVER part of the Steelers organization and Haslam was such a minority owner, he had to buy his end zone corner seat tickets and hope the ones he got were legit.
