LOL ... Thanks Lyman Another movie that I really liked is Dog Day Afternoon. Scared the bejesus out of me but it's pretty good!
Yeah I think so too Axe. Like the Godfather trilogy, Scarface and ... what's the 3rd one? Oh I know, The Deerhunter. That one scared me to DEATH!
It really scared me. That scene when they're in the bamboo cages under water and the rats are trying to get in? Only all of my worst nightmares ...
It's not much longer than The Godfather or The Sand Pebbles, and shorter than Gone with the Wind and Lawrence of Arabia. And nothing wrong with a movie that provokes strong emotion.
Never saw the Sand Pebbles or Lawrence of Arabia. Got through half of Gone with the Wind. I was cheering for Tara to burn down. The Godfather was slow in the middle, but entertaining overall.
Never saw Lawrence of Arabia...got through only half of Gone With the Wind...The Godfather was "entertaining"... Cat, you have no soul! LOL!
now that's a classic ! it actually could've been a lot funnier. no need for a side story about prejudice kid Tim. should've been more like fast times at ridgemont high. axe - no soul? whatever. and the Godfather the 10th time was entertaining. it's a classic. is it epic movie making? no. was it a lesson in film making or acting experience? no except for brando and pacino. what else do you want me to call it ? i won't even tell you what i thought of the Godfather part II. That will really hurt your feelings.
i was going over my taxes with my brother and Gone With the Wind was on in his tv room. i don't know what was worse doing my taxes with him or the damn movie. "Scarlett I don't give a damn." Neither do I after 3 hrs. I was cheering for the fire to kill them all. So over the top and overacting. i wanted to stab myself with my #2 pencil i was doing my taxes with to not watch anymore. thank God i was done at halftime of the movie. phew.
to me the opening and first 35-45 minutes of Saving Private Ryan is a movie making experience. it's like a class on how to make a movie. Gone With the Wind or the Godfather is not even close for me to call it that. a great movie ? absolutely. a movie making experience? no.
