I don't believe that was my approach on my original post. Listen, we have history, Bears board and myself. It is what it is. Never said anything close to "haters are going to hate." Do you not think the Patricia/Nagy signings are both huge for the future of the NFC North? Is that not a topic that should be discussed over the next couple years on the Lions and Bears boards1111/ I said Nagy was the better signing, Not sure where the problem is there. Maybe you'll just play the Dolphins 8 times a year.
I think it's naive to go into any season thinking any win/loss is locked. Circumstances in the NFL often dictate that teams, even with a small percentage chance to win coming into the season, can do so. If you think those 8 games are locked as losses, I think it's far more realistic that the Bears end up winning at least 2 of them. Conversely, I think it's far more realistic that, of the 8 games they're more favored to win, they end up losing at least 2 of them. Save for the historically and anomalously terrible teams, this is usually the way it works out. So I don't give much credence to the idea that they have to run the table in 8 games, because they're guaranteed losses in the others. I would start by not bringing up history, especially if it's bad. "Leave the drama for Wilmer Valderrama" kind of stuff. I don't care who you are - you're not special - talk football, talk it well. Easy formula. And don't try to sell the line that you were comparing the Lions' future to Chicago's. You didn't mention the Lions, but you sure as shit mentioned the Patriots and their players/outcomes. You were going on about Patricia because you couldn't not talk about the Pats. If you want to talk Patricia and his place / effect on the Lions, that's fine. It is, indeed, impactful for the division. But don't try to sell us that you were innocent of it all along, and that that was your intent. Didn't work for the White House, not gonna work here.
You are right that was factually incorrect. I do appreciate the typo police Patricia is in fact the Lions head coach and it will factually impact the Bears organization that hired a new coach during the same offseason. Weather it belongs or not is neither a fact or fiction just an opinion. Well, in this case I think it is dam near a fact.. I never was called out or called any slurs before the time I said the Bears made a mistake trading up for Trubs on the board last April. However, if this is not a fact... It just makes you dicks. So that would be a fact. Correct. I am sure that discussion would make you feel better about you football IQ then this one. I should quit while I am ahead. but I wont.
I believe as a guy that has watched the sport for over 35 years it is enjoyable to have an opinion. Right or Wrong.. I can lock the Pats in for 11 wins every year for more than a decade. How many games to you think the Bears will win? Just asking your opinion.
not sure why it wouldn't be. Rodgers is aging and the Pack will fade the next couple years. Vikes look very solid. Who will fill that void between the Bears and Lions for a team to compete with the Vikes? That is not a comparable situation between two teams that just hired a new head coach? And while I defend this point, it should be made light that I think and wrote Nagy was the better hire. I just wasnt' sold on him. Must be a troll statement than. Give me a break you over sensitive.....
"That comes to the, well, why most of you don't like me, Trubs" Don't play revisionist history. Leave the high school stuff behind. Own up to it, let's move on. I mean, if the Bears played the Dolphins, Bills, and Jets twice each a year, I'd be pretty confident in a better record, too... You're avoiding the premise of my statement. It's not, "How many games are they going to win?", it's the identification of those games. You seem to be thinking that there are a handful of losses automatically locked in, and the rest are coin flips, and that's the only way to your record conclusion. But the reality is, all teams lose games they shouldn't, and win games they shouldn't. So, I don't take your premise of "They have to win these games to have X record" is plausible. You can have an opinion. I can tell you why I think it's wrong from its inception. Both are enjoyable. That's why we're here. I'm not combative about it. I don't predict records, because of the volatility of the above, and the sport / league in general. I think this team is likely a few games better than last year, but that will depend on opponent performance, injury, and whether the defense maintains its performance. Alright, now before you start calling names and getting all bitchy, slow down and read what I said more carefully: I think the comparison of coaching hires and speculation on their future is worthy. That's not what you did, originally, nor did you even make it remotely clear that that was your intent. You later went on to bring it up, after being called out on it numerous times. Let's put a clear line between one thing and another.
That is fine. You are actually technically correct. I will just keep it how bad of a draft move trading up for Trubs was.
I'm sorry but I'm with Bww on this. SPress is only here to provoke. He's tried it before and failed miserably so he's trying it out on different threads on the Bears board but he's still not getting it. If you want to discuss football leave your agenda behind. You know the one you were bragging on the other day on a different thread? You're cover is totally blown. Whatever responses you get from our members here are YOUR problem.
However you wish to handle things BF is your choice. However, I have not spoken about anything but football on this thread. It may be an opposite opinion. If that is not allowed then why have the thread. PS, I have no problems with any members response as long as they are not personal. Something you seem to be fine with unless....
Not sure what you find so funny. I may be a bit slow. Or why you are bringing it off football topics.
Even funnier ... You must like getting your ass handed to you on this board. Keep it up. It'll happen LOL
Hey @dlinebass5 maybe you can explain this to me ... what's the issue with Roquan Smith not signing yet? Isn't he a top pick?
I think anyone who has read the last couple pages full of thought provoking football instinct and not the "You are a troll because you think my team can only win 5 or 6 games mentality" would appreciate it,
That's not true. Yeah, you brought up personal stuff in your first post, bud, which you keep trying to ignore. Sorry, guys. I shouldn't have tried to be nice. I shouldn't have given the benefit of the doubt. He's just being a troll, and not doing a very good job at it. Have at him. A damn shame.
This amuses me. When did I bring up personal stuff. Because I mentioned riff between myself and this board. I don't consider that personal. Do you consider a difference of opinion personal?
